Product Review: Flies Be Gone Fly Trap

- Product Info -
Manufacturer: Flies Be Gone
Model Name: Flies Be Gone Fly Trap
Product Type/Product purpose: Attracts flies away from area (say a barn) and they go into the trap and die which reduces the overall fly population. Can catch up to 20 000 flies!
Price and Purchase info: I paid about $17 a piece for my fly traps and I got them from Gencor. However, you can buy them online.

- Product Description -
Pros: It works and a it's non toxic which is a huge bonus! I'm quite pleased with mine and they are quickly paying for themselves!

Cons: You have to hang the trap 52' away from bulidings and it has to be up high. That was kind of tricky. Also, it takes 2 days before the trap gets activated.

Would you recommend this to a friend?: For sure!

Other comments: If you want me to post pictures of my own traps, lemme know. Here's the official website: http://www.fliesbegone.com/index.htm

Overall Product rating: (out of 10) 9

hmmm... the far away from a building thing sounds like it might be a pain... What did you do? Find a tall tree?

I have some of those!

They do work wonderfully.

I had some smaller ones that I could hang in the barn until Mac ate one of them. Now I stick with the ones that I put in the trees and by my poop bin.

The only bad thing is that if you leave them up too long they smell really, really bad.

Cascy, I got two and I hung on just outside of the barnyard up high on a fence and I hung the other on the opposite side of the barn up on the ladder of a silo.

Crookedblaze, Good thing they're non-toxic!

I'm leaving mine alone for 5 weeks and then they're coming down. The only smell it gives off is the smell of rotting flies! Yuck!

I had a trap similar to that a few years back. Yes it trapped a lot of flies but it didn't catch those pesky biting flies so I gave up on the trap and went back to spraying the animals.

Smelling really, really bad is an understatement. They work but when I took them down it made me gag Very gross!

I found those just attracted blow flies which eat carion, not live flesh. Because of our unusual weather very few horse, deer and stable flies arrived.
Next year I shall try painting paper coffee cups with a certain shade of blue paint and coating with Tanglefoot. These would be hung from the wire fence. From those with experience it's the color and movement that attracts the deer flies and they stick to the tanglefoot. Paper plates would work. This past summer my mosquito magnet devoured millions of mosquitoes and I discovered the stable flies were attracted to the propane tank. Since I trade the empty for a full one I shall add some duct tape with tanglefoot applied and remove it come trade-in time. btw the magnet also got many gnats as well.
