Product Review: Strongid C 2X Daily Dewormer

- Product Info -
Manufacturer: Pfizer Animal Health
Model Name: Strongid C 2X Daily Dewormer
Product Type/Product purpose: Deworming pellets fed daily
Price and Purchase info: Approximately $50 for a 10 lb bucket

- Product Description -
Pros: I have seen a big difference! I have been deworming once monthly with paste dewormers, rotating the kind each month. One of our ponies was still carrying a worm belly from when we bought her, despite the fact that we had done a power pack when we bought her and had been deworming her regularly since then. I started the daily deworming pellets last week, and found TONS of worms in her stall since then, it is really working! Her belly is already reduced, too.

Cons: The only con is the price. It is fairly expensive to have 3 horses on this product.

Would you recommend this to a friend?: Yes!

Other comments:

Overall Product rating: (out of 10) 10

Our stallion Jivago is on this as was recommended by his vet in Arizona. I got a 50 Lb bag for about $150 and it will last awhile. There is no issues with trying to get him to eat the pellets, he loves them.

I will, however, still give him a dose of ivermectin wormer 2-3 times a year as well.

I love it. The difference that I see between it and the regualr strongid is the higher (2.11%) para ingrediaent verses the 1.86 I Believe.

I feed 10 horses with it. I buy the 50 bag at 151.00 it lasted me the full month plus a week verses almost 3 buckets of the regular per month. I have used this product for the last 3 years and have wonderful results. I do use the Ivermec paste during the winter. I will continue to use it.

You are still suppose to paste worm every 6 months when on this. Didnt know if you knew that.

I use the pelleted wormer at 3x strength as a purge wormer. If you give it 3x the reccommended dose it is the same amount of chemical as a tube of pyrantel pamoate. My vet told me this many years ago and it sure keeps the cost down.

I love that stuff! Awesome product for sure...

We used it on a few of ours (back when we had money that didn't all go to gas )
They always had shiney, nice glossy coats and looked great!

We only used it once a day though... didn't know you were supposed to use it twice a day... guess that's what I get for not reading labels

I just did the Zimectrin Gold, right before I started this. When I do the paste wormer again, do I take a couple of days off of the pellets, or just keep going with them every day?

Oh, another question... I normally give Probios for a couple of days after deworming, should I give it every day now?

Alls I was saying, is that you are SUPPOSE to do that (paste worm) you made it sound like with the "however" that you did it as an extra. Thats all. I wasn't trying to be mean or question your knowledge or anything, it was a simple one line sentence. Gosh.

Yes- keep using the pellets even after paste worming. I ask that question to my vet everytime he worms my horses (every 6 months) and he says, don't stop using the pellets just b/c they were wormed that day. Pellets 365 days a year !!

If your horses misses 2 days of the daily wormer, call your vet. They can't miss more than 2 days.

I (actually my vet) have only used Strongid paste wormer along with the strongid pellets. I haven't ever mixed brands. At least, my vet hasn't. My vet does all my shots/wormings.

There is also the "Strongid C Program" Its by Phizer. Contact your vet for more info. My horses are on it.

I order it from Jeffers. It was 151.00 for 50 lbs. Also, I did fnd out that the Continuex has the same thing the 2.11 pyrntel(sp) in as the strongid 2c and it s 15 dollars cheaper. Here it is if you want to check this out.

There are 2 Strongids

Strongid C and Strongid C2X. I think that it means that it 2 times stronger, because you use half the dose. Maximum strength, feed less of it
