Question Sugar's Mane

Ok...so I did some research before I posted this. I googled till I could not google anymore.

My paint mare is having a problem with her mane. It just won't grow! She looks healthy every where else except for her mane. Her tail looks great even. I just can't seem to get it to grow! Any suggestions on a product of some kind?

Do I need to hold my tongue a certain way?? Stand on my head?? Hold my breath!! Just kidding!

Seriously though...I have been searching...but I value ya'lls opinion.

Shapleys M-T-G!

It works wonders on getting manes to grow. I've used it on two of my horses with FANTASTIC results!

I highly recommend it!

Omega 3 and 6 wafers have done wonders for my geldings mane/tail. He doesn't have any issues with his mane and tail, but I started giving him the Snaxflax Omega 3 and 6 wafers as treats and wow- his mane and tail are growing !! Just an idea.

I know what you're going through. My filly, Dalila, is in the same boat. She is happy & healthy, but is now 3 years old and still has fuzz for a mane! I'm going to be trying MTG when the weather gets better...I think it's still a bit too cold for me to try it now.

Dalila, on the right....obviously.

This is the longest it has ever been (pic is from last summer)..and it's just fuzzy like a foal's mane. Sorry the pic isn't very good, but it's the best I could find of her mane.

Painted wonders....oh yes...That is exactly what Sugar's mane looks like...except her's looks like she has really bad split ends...and I don't really brush it unless I have to. I wonder if it is just a "paint" thing? Dalila's forelock looks JUST like Sugar's. I can't figure it out! Maybe we can try it at the same time and compare progress!!!

I have to second MTG. When Lil Bit ripped part of his mane out, Completely out, I used MTG and it started growing in great. It is getting longer now ( not as long as the rest of his mane) I haven't used it all winter.
I have heard that if you use too much, it will cause more problems with the mane? Not sure if this is accurate, just what I have heard.
Good luck

I kinda think Dalila's mane issue has something to do with her lack of care when she was younger. She had worms as long as my arm when she was born and had them until I got her when she was almost 5 months old. My vet said he was surprised she lived as long as she did with them. They definitley stunted her growth..so I think that's what her problem is. I'm just glad I was able to get her before she died...she is a great little horse.
Once I start the MTG treatment..I'll keep a photo diary and let you know how it goes. I'm kinda of excited to see what hapens.

Hmmm....Sugar was not messed with before I got her either. She was put out to pasture for 2 years and she had lots of worms too. Maybe with her being on a regular wormer it will help.

I will take a picture of Sugar's mane this evening...you can tell me what you think.

Lil Bit didn't rip out his entire mane, just the middle section
I used the MTG, and it started growing in very nice.

I've wormed Dalila regularly since I've owned her (since she was about 5 months old and she is now over 3 years old), and her mane has hardly changed. She has started hitting a late growth spurt, so I'm hoping her mane will catch up this year. Who knows though...we'll see!

My mare is like that too. She has a thicker mane nearer her head but about half way to her withers it gets thin and sparse. I cut her mane for showing last June and it is still not grown out. It is taking forever to grow. I would love it to hang just a little bit past her neck if possible. I will have to look into some of these things

I guess what aggrevates me so bad is that Sugar looks great every where else....except for her shaggy mane!

FYI- buy a pack of disposable gloves before using the MTG. It's Sulpher based so it smells like rotten eggs. Works like a charm though. I also use it on my paint.
