new to 'em and love 'em

I just thought I'd post here which would bump this up and also let y'all know I love these girths too. I was primarily an English rider so all I knew was buckle 'em up. But I bought a trail saddle and my good friend Michelle recommended these girths. So, I got one for Tule, my Anglo, and it went great. Now since I'm adding the new mare and she's just for pleasure trail riding, I bought one for her as well. Tule's is the neoprene which will never budge, sticks like glue without pinching. The mare's is the felted or mohaired type and I'll be putting it on her today for the first time.

I am in fact thinking about getting the adaptor so I can use these with my English saddle!

It took 4 people and a loooonnggg time for us to figure this out.

I'm used to my synthetic saddle that is similar to an english style girth and my cousin was used to the old western way of cynching.

We had to get the boyfriends involved but we figured it out. I admit though-- I gave up the first time I tried to do it.

I love them I am not very strong and there easier for me to cinch. I have a wool one and a cotton one. I am not as crazy about the neoprene girths I think the horses sweat to much under them.

Hubby got me a cinch for christmas one year and I looked at it like what the heck. Once I figured it out, I love it!!!. It is so much easier to use and I have a cinchy mare to begin with and becuase I can do this more smoothly she is happier for it. LOL I do admit that I have overtightened it ( I ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS check if it is just right tight) and had to apoligize to the old gal and loosen it a bit.

Double thumbs up from me

Question Question..

What is the benefit of the "mohair" one over the regular nylon stranded one?? Just that the mohair is all natural??? Thanks!

I have 2 felt ones. I kept forgetting how to cinch up with a regular one. Then I got the smart cinch. Sometimes I forgot to go through the top and then the bottom. ANYWAYS......Love them!

I have a hard time getting the cinch tight because of the problems I have in my shoulders. This cinch makes it much easier for me to tighten my cinch. I got a neoprene one because its almost impossible to get an Aussie stock saddle to stay tight. This fits the bill exactly without having to "cut the horse in half" to get a tight fit.

Happy trails
