Nylon straight cinches feature a 1/2" black 100% felt backer for extra comfort.
Nylon off billet holder.
Stainless steel buckles (including patented Roll Snug Cinch Buckle) and dees.
Horse Size

What I don't like about all the nylon - strap, billet, cinch is there is no give. Would you ladies wear a bra with no elastic, I think not. Horse feels the same way. Leather straps and a mohair girth allow a slight amount of give as the horse moves and breathes. When a horse blows up his belly, walking him 10 or so steps enables you to snug him up better.

So THAT is how it works! Thanks for that link David!

Hmmmm...I might look into picking one of those up for the BF for Christmas for his saddle. Shoot, I should get one for myself too!!

Gotta admit, those prices aren't bad!! Neat idea!

I have seen these, looked at them, been generally interested in them as I have a hard time snugging up enough. But...would they work on a center fire rigging? Typically I tie off at the back ring (not the ring under the fender) - so was wondering if the angle of where I tie off would work. Anyone use this with a 3/4 rigged saddle?

As far as that goes they would work the same as any other girth. the benefit comes from the fact that the rollers allow the leather cinch to slide easier so that it takes less brute strength to tighten a girth properly.

I understand that - but what I'm not sure about is that with a 3/4 rigging, the girth strap does not come straight back up, but back at an angle (toward the horses hip) - would the rollers still work as well when you are tying it back, or would it mess up the roller thing?

They look like nice girths!

One thing did come to mind reading some of the posts, BE CAREFUL when cinching, if you have to cinch SO tight then your saddle may not fit properly.. When cinching a horse, the girth should not cut them in half!

That can make a horse really girthy & sore because the pectoral muscles become torn & bruised...And..pushing a saddle too hard on back can also cause sore withers & back..

Not at all saying that this is going on but just thought I would mention it just in case!!----

Ok...all done!! (sigh...)

Yes, EK You are right. With this cinch you have to know how tight is tight enough, and how tight is too tight. Whew! I've never said tight that many times in one sentence! Used properly, this product is wonderful. Used incorrectly, you have a horse with an ouchie!

I will try it this weekend on my saddle and let you know. If I can remember the wife's camera I'll get you a picture.

I must be directionally challenged. I bought one and can not for the life of me figure out how it works. No one at my barn has one and they look just as confused as me. I tell them that it's suppose to be the best thing but after about 10 minutes of messing with it, I give up. It's funny too cause my horse looks at me like "helloooo lady...... geez, are you done yet?". Then I usually give up and do it the old fashion way. I've looked at the directions but wow, does that make me feel pretty dumb.

it's actually so simple that some folks overthink it. you run your cinch strap through the top loop then back up and through the ring on your saddle (the ring that the cinch strap is connected to) then back down and through the other loop on the smart cinch. Last step is back to the saddle ring and tie off.

A word of caution the first time you use this try putting your hand behind the girth when tightening because it's very easy to over tighten it the first time or two that you use it. If you look back on this post I put a link to a site that has pictures of how it works. I'll try to find it again.

Here's the link again

Hope this helps

Thanks David! I really feel silly now. That's very easy.

... remember when teachers would say there is no such thing as stupid questions..... well, I think there are... and this qualifies for it.

My mom and I have been wanting to get them ever since we saw Clinton Anderson advertise them on his show. Well we finally broke down and bought one for each of us...

WE LOVE THEM!!!

Our first try was on a 4 hour trail ride and I only had to make very little adjustments a couple of times the whole ride. My other girth I would have had to keep tightening it over and over again.

Definately am going to spread the word in our area about these girths. They rock!

Ok alliebath, I tried tieing my girth every way I could think of. With 3/4 rigging like you mentioned it worked fine.

Since I forgot the camera I'll have to explain how I tied it so you can decide if that's what you meant. I went down from the saddle ring ( where my girth is attached) through the top ring of the girth, then back up to the same ring and back through the bottom ring on the girth. Then I came up and tied off on the rear saddle ring ( where my flank cinch is attached). Tieing this way allowed the girth to work properly.

I hope this is what you meant by a 3/4 rigged girth.
