I use it as is--rope noseband and curb chain. There's not much shank length, so it takes pretty hard hands to do any damage to the nose or jaw.

If you scroll down to 'Shanna and Bones,' you'll see a pretty terrible picture of it.

I have never had a problem with it causing any damage to the nose. It sits pretty loose unless it is not fitted quite right. I have friends that take a little vet wrap and put about the width wise of the vet wrap and wrap it 3 to 4 times, but that is when there daughter is runnibg barrels.

It would take pretty hard hands or to tight to cause any damage. I used it as it comes, but I wouldn't think that a leather strap would cause any problems.

all my hacks have a leather strap rather than a chain...works fine. i also do the nose band with vet wrap.

i think to do any damage you would have to pull back very hard for a long time without any releasing and/or have the hack too low on the nose.

Does anyone have a picture of one on their horse? I have one and I'm wondering if it's in the right place.

I just tried a Little S on my new mare this morning and it worked great - Rosie neck reined in it fine and had a very good whoa even from a lope. She really responded well and her head tossing went away. I think the head tossing is nerves because I notice she does it when she is nervous otherwise. She was totally relaxed during our ride today with her new hackamore - it was awesome. I bought the one with the leather noseband so it would be gentler and I still had plenty of control

I used a Little S hack on Raven, hubbys mare. She normally only has 2 speeds, fast and faster. With the S hack, she responded so well, now we are waiting to get her one also. I love them!

I just got back from town, and guess what, I just bought one of those too, I was looking for something for a "first-time-wearer" to try, I hope this will not be too harsh? I always use bits with my girls, but this mare, just seems to hate, all bits Ive used, so thought I would try this, will let you all know how it goes...

Well I just got back from Tractor Supply with my new Little S Hack! They were riding Hank in a Tom Thumb but I want to try this hack out because all I do is trail ride and I just don't want to have to use a bit. It is to cold and windy today but I hope to try it out on him by the weekend.
