You have to make sure you have the nose fitted where it belongs and then tie it just like a regular halter...

I picked one up at a tack swap last year that looked to be barely-used. I absolutely love it for training! And it fits all our horses perfectly.

I know how to tie halters (there's some pretty easy directions on the internet) but it takes so long to fit them to the horse's face that I lost interest in making them. Was more worth it for me to buy them then try and figure out which lengths my knots should be at

My dad is anti-rope halter, as he likes the normal nylon ones. He won't allow me to use a rope halter when trailering or basically anytime when he's around to trim feet or give shots.

How can I get it in his head that I have more immediate control with that rope halter than i do with the nylon web halter??

Maybe I was not clear. I tried to use a rope halter, but everytime my horse pulled on it. The tie would loosen up and then the halter would slid down his face. So I went back to the regular halter with the buckle. Is there a certain way to tie them so the knot wont slide?

Proper way to tie a rope halter.

Once the knot is tied then pull it snug. If the halter is made out of a decent quality rope it shouldn't slide much at all. If your horse is constantly setting back and pulling it's not the halter that's the problem, the horse does not understand how to give to pressure.
