**A Couple of Reminders**

Hello fellow Horsetopians!
I just wanted to make a couple of reminders.

First, don't forget to get out there and take photos for our Calendar Contest.

I know many of you own beautiful equines that would make fabulous photography subjects.
Some of our very Northern members are still experienceing snow -this may be your last chance to take snow photos before the contest closes.
Also, now is foaling season, and those new babies only stay little for so long...

There have been some excellent photos submitted so far, and I'd love to see more!

Second, I want to quickly remind everyone of our forum rules regarding pictures submitted and posted in any of the photo contests, and throughout the rest of the forum...

You must have usage rights to the photos you submit.
Either you have taken the photo personally, or you have the owner or photographer's consent.

Posting photos that someone else owns a copyright to is illegal.
Posting photos that belong to someone else without their permission is against the horsetopia rules,
and subject to consequences, including possible deactivation of your horsetopia account.

I am confused about posting pics in the forum-does this mean that people cannot post pics or ads of horses they are interested in purchasing then?? Or am I reading without glasses again?

They have to go through our new system.

Sometimes it takes a while.

You e-mail them.

Whichever Calendar helper is on duty saves them to computer.

C.H. (Calendar Helper) uploads them to photobucket.

C.H. posts them in our private forum.

There, we vote to decide if they are calendar material.

If we say yes, C.H. posts pics on the entry thread for everyone to see.

You can post the link to the ad but if it isn't your horse you have to have permission from the owner to post direct pics. It's perfectly ok to post the link to ad though.

The main issues lie in the copyrights of photographs,
or when owners see their horse's pic being posted when they didn't permit it.

Posting links to ads is okay if:
-you are asking questions about the animal because you are interested in buying it,
- or if you are trying to sell a horse, and you need help in figuring out what is wrong with the ad.

Posting links to ads is not okay if:
-you are saying how pretty it is;
-you are wanting to pick on typos;
-you are posting about the seller;
-you are posting about the condition of the horse;
-you are claiming the horse is yours when it isn't;
-etc...
