Special Photo Contest Favorites -- Contest still open

Hello Horsetopia Forum Members!

As many of you know, we are currently in the process of developing some new promotional materials. I've selected some of our favorites from our special photo contest but the contest is still open for those of you who think you have an especially great photo that could compete with the ones below.

Some of these photos would be perfect, but don't quite meet our requirements for one reason or another (see guidelines below). Others are being strongly considered. The most common reason that many of the other photos in the contest didn't meet our requirements was lack of a striking/beautiful background.

Please read the guidelines below before posting.

Required Photo Qualities:
1. Nice background with nice colors (preferably outside)
2. Taken by you
3. Clear photo and available in high-quality digital format

4. Horses interacting with other animals are a plus
5. Cute foals are also a plus
6. No people appear in the photo (except possibly young children if
they're extra cute!)

Basically, we are just looking for a great photo to put on a pamphlet, flyer, or postcard.

Prize: Free Gold Premium Ad ($14.95) to the winner, and if we decide to use your photo we'll pay you another $30 for the rights to the photo. Feel free to be creative -- all of the guidelines above are just guidlines, not strict rules.

It is important that the background looks good, so that the photo will look nice if it's printed out. We can't stress this point enough!

Below are some of our favorites so far:

I'm going to go out and take some tomorrow.

I hoped you guys would go for the one with the mare and foal...I love the misty atmosphere. Gorgeous. It almost looks staged.

Man, I wish I had time to spend an afternoon with the camera! The Kentucky hills are beautiful this time of year, and all the horses are all slicked out. Maybe this weekend...?

This is for divinemisselle, these are her babies, but I saw this file in my computer, and thought this pic fits right in with ones Annie posted as their favorites so far...

Is this contest still going on? Can i still enter?
How about an eye shot? interested?

alot of these pictures have annoying things in the background, but if you pick one, i can edit it out on Photoshop

oh yea, does the interation between 2 horses have to be nice/playful interaction? or agressive? lol because my horses hate each other.. and i have pictures of them rearing/kickin/biting at each other :P

Thanks for the entries Saudimack. Yes, the contest is still running.

To answer your question, horse interactions don't have to be friendly. The keys things we are looking for are a high quality photo with a good background so it looks nice in print. Of course, the subject of the photo is just as important

This is going to be a very hard one to judge!

Annie, here's one more, that I forgot, it is a mini horse, though, but the shot was nice with a nice foreground and background... And it is a big file, but shrunk for photobucket...

Thanks muttduck for posting the pic of my babies! The one on the far left is Lakota (Salmonella boy)(domestic bred Mustang), the middle is Trinity (TB-Mustang cross-SOLD), and the far right is Domo Vaquero (domestic bred mustang).

Thinking now, I have a beautiful picture of my TB mare when she was at the track. I'll try to dig it up, scan it and get it posted. She's a beauty.

BLACK AND BLUE!
Okay - granted the cement wall background is a tad unusual, but I just received this photo for the Team Nokota website and HAD to share! Pictured are two young, unnamed Nokota geldings just arrived from North Dakota to Pennsylvania, April 2005. Photo by Susan Pizzini.

And Nokota trivia - blue roan is the most common color among the Nokotas. For anyone who wonders what a true blue roan looks like, take a look at the boy on the left! The other common colors of Nokotas are grey, true black (see boy on the right!) and frame overo. Nokota trivia over and out...

Hmmm... wonder what a baby would look like if I bred Emma to one? (kidding, I don't think there's a Nokota within 200 miles of me!)

Last chance to enter the special photo contest!

We will be closing this contest in about a week and announcing the winners shortly thereafter! Thanks to everyone who has entered so far -- the judging is going to be very tough!
