Guinea pig house

Does any one have any plans or pictures of a guinea pig house for outside?
I now have 2 piggies - they are addictive. I would like to build them a play area outside that they could get more exercise and eat grass. Now they cannot be allowed to be together but I would like the pen to be side by side. One is male and one is female. Female is 3 and has never had babies. Male is 9 months and is not fixed. I can't find a vet that will do it. I have been told they stress too much.

I would like to use chicken wire but I am not sure what they need. Should it have a bottom? Would they like tubes or something to climb on? What kind of shelter to go with it. I am still learning about them.

my dad made one years ago with a steel frame(so they couldn't chew through) and chicken wire on top and bottom(so they couldn't dig out and other things couldn't dig in and the grass poked up through the bottom so they could eat and it had 2 different levels in it. I don't have any pics of it and we no longer have it anymore when we moved and had to get ride of the little guys the cage went with them

for shelter you can just make a 3 sided wood house with a roof also put twigs and stuff for them to chew on and there water and food and some fruit and veggies and a bit of hay

They shouldn't be outside 24/7.. A shady place would be ok for a couple of hours.
something out of chicken wire for the sides and top. the bottom shouldn't be wire it hurts there feet.

Our pigs like pop boxes.. they crawl in them over over them.

Oh, they wont be kept outside. I would just like to give them a place to play outside when the kids are outside. I thought it would keep them happier if they had something to look forward to.....if that makes any sense

Thank you. I like the house but I think I want them to have more room to run. I love watching them run laps

Anything that you can make preditor and escape proof will work.. You can use other fencing for strength and then chicken wire so nothing can get to them.. It might not be really pretty but it would work.

Like a puppy play pen or kids one for that matter. and just add a roof and make sure that nothing can get to them.

Do you want it to be a tempory thing that you can just move or more perment one?

Hum now you got me thinking maybe I'll make one for ours too..

I love the last two. THey probably wont look so pretty with my handy building skills. They will end up looking like the cooked little house with the crooked little man who walked a crooked mile.............

You know what I forgot to mention, if you are just looking to take them out side for a couple of hours and have a wire cage top, just take the top off the cage and put the pigs inside it along with there house. It makes a nice and secure, quick housing but you always have to keep an eye on them.

I need something a little more secure. We have a lot of barn cats here that would take it as a personal challenge to get in

I burried my rabbit cage bottom partially in the ground so they couldn't dig out. I don't know about guinie pigs though, as previously suggested, mabey put 2 differnt types of wire together?

I know if you want to make it portable but still safe with no wire on the bottom of the cage you can stake it to the ground with U stakes. Even with the wire top ones, 4 U stakes in each corner and then one stake on each side will make it pretty secure.

Now I wouldn't suggest putting your pigs outside and then heading to town, but a cat wouldn't be able to flip the top over with the stakes in.
