What we deal with when riding in BC. GRAPHIC

Thought you'd like to see the thing we have to be careful of when horseback riding in Northern B.C. This is just 1 hour north of my home town. Unfortunelty it was hit by a truck, too bad cause they are just majestic creature (from a distance).

This is a 1100 pound grizzle bear that was hit by a truck near Lakelse Lake near Terrace BC. Look at the size of him.

that bears a bit bigger then the one that was outside my bedroom window a few years ago. there gorgeous animals so sad when they get hit and don't make it.
Three years ago a 700 pound male was hit on my road crumpled the front of the car yet it just knocked him down and knocked the wind out of him once he got up he just grunted shook himself off and took off into the bush.
But yes we have to when trail riding keep an eye out for them especially in spring when there waking up and have babies with them.

We have those kind of bears closer to the ocean the smaller ones are inland, just yesterday a brown bear attacked a 15 year old girl who was bike riding, the bear tore up her face, legs and back. She may not survive . . . and if she does she will have major scars and at 15 years of age.

Yep when riding in Northern BC you really rely on your horse's sense of smell and hearing. They notice them coming a ways away. Then you keep an eye out cause you don't want to run across them.

I think he got hit by a semi or logging truck cause your correct most smaller vehicles would have done no damage what so ever to a big guy like that.

Holy cow. That is one big bear. I feel bad for the bear, but I sure would not want to come upon him while riding.

I feel bad for the girl but really didn't need to know that. We will be in Alaska in August and one of the shore excursians we are taking is a 4 hour horseback ride. Told my husband I didn't care what he did durring the rest of the trip he was taking me riding in the mountians.

That is scary and sad, OMG the size of its claws is amazing, I certainly wouldn't want to come across that while out riding.
