Baby birds

Yesterday my daughter and I found this nest in an outbuilding.

Barn Swallows!! I love those birds. The parents swoop around me when I rake the hay for baling. I have a pair nesting in my barn. If I remember I'll try and get a pic. They are excellent buggers catching dinner on the wing.

Great little bug-catchers! They swarm hubby when he mows. We had a nest of them on the front porch one year.

Is it a swallow? , it kinda looks like the sparrow my friend has, but its hard to tell from pictures. My friend raises and releases baby wild birds.

Definalty swallows near fledging by the looks too! Very cute!

There are some in a barn that I know and last year we found a baby hanging from a piece of horse hair. He was choking. It somehow formed a loop and he got his head in it and I guess it was time for them to flee the nest or he just got pushed out or something and it just strangled him. So it left him hanging in the air by that horse hair. Poor fella.

But he sure was lucky that we were there to save him!

I think they have some this year too. Hopefully they are more careful!
