I got babies UPDATE*

My momma guppy just gave birth to 4 fry. Sadly one was still born(still very undeveloped and in the egg sac and white) and momma ate 1 of them before I could remove her from the birthing tank but I still have 2 healthy babies. Was a small group of fry usually they have 10-200 but it happens and she could still be pregnant(could explain the undeveloped one) as they can have 3 pouches of fertiziled eggs at a time which can be born within 2 weeks or so of eachother. Can't get pics yet as babies are to hard to see right now lol all you can see pretty much is there black eyes and outline basically

Ok so I added momma back in with the other fish(birthing tank just floats on top of water of the regular tank)anyways she has only been in the birthing tank for 24 hours but for some reason my other fish are attacking her she now is missing pieces off of her fins and tail and has a sore on her head. I have never seen this happen or had this happen. anyone that has fish experiance know what I can do? I have no other tank to place her in the other one I have is a small one I just started setting up yesterday for the babies to go in but it wont be ready to have anyone put into it for atleast 3 more days. Any idea why the others would attack her now? its not like she's a strange fish or that she's been out of the tank for a long period of time

Oh how cool! I used to raise guppies for money. I would sell them to local people and pet stores. It's a blast, you'll have fun watching them grow.

yeah I was hoping she would have held off for a few days to have them so she could have them in my baby tank I set up but she didn't wait and I'm a little worried as I lost a fish a few days ago to a fungus so have been treating the water for ick and fungus so hopefully have it under control would hate for these little guys to catch it before I get them transfered. although none of my others are displaying any signs of it so hope that the one I lost got it before I bought it and I caught it and got it under control before the others could get it.

I used to have guppies when I was little but never had the proper set up so any babies I got would get eaten or sucked up the filter lol but back then I wasn't really caring if I had babies or not now I want to get into breeding fish

Well lastnight I removed momma from tank and put her in just a goldfish bowl so I could treat her wounds from the other fish attacking her about 2 hours after this she gave birth to 5 more babies and then died 20 mins later. I removed her from the bowl and left the babies hoping they were alive but an hour later they were all still in the egg sacs and floating on the bottom so she gave birth to5 more stillborns. Obviously she had something wrong with her and thats why she lost all but 2 babies and died herself I'm guessing this is why the others attacked her. So I'm going to be keeping the 2 surviving babies in the hopes there females(I have a unrelated male they hopefully if females will breed with someday)
