Trip to the Tulsa Zoo ...

Went to the Tulsa Zoo Monday. Weather was awesome. Unfortunately about a dozen elementary schools also had the same idea. Oh well - it was still a good day.

Snowy Owl

Progression of horse evolution. I've always liked this display.

The red kangaroo (I couldn't get his jibbily bits out of the picture. Sorry! )

Me and a poisonous snake of some kind.

A huuuuge Brown Bear. (Is there a diff between brown bears and grizzlies?)

Donkey (Sicilian?) with funny-looking neck floppies.

Otters like to wrestle.

Did you know newborn giraffes come into the world with a six-foot drop to the ground?

Find the snowleopard!!!

African lions, hiding in the shade from our 85* weather.

Tiger taking a nap. I like the composition of this pic.

Sea lion going for a swim.

Spectacled bear - he needs contacts. XD

Necrophiliac turtle.

"Algebra" tortoises, because I can't remember how to spell the island they're actually from.

and last but not least ...

Ellyfints!!!

wow, looks someone had a blast! lol.

The tortoises are called Galapagos Turtoises. They originate off the island west of Ecuador in S. America. They are the biggest turtoises in the WORLD .

And I do like the evolution of horses sign, I always like seeing how horses evolved from little sized dogs to a big overgrown great dane .

Anyways, at least you learned a lot and got nice pics. And luckily you got to see the animals...everytime I go to the zoo, all I see is the ground and trees in the exibit, no animals ....

looks like that first one is a grizzly, since he has a "hump" on his back , but I could be wrong

grizzlies are bigger and have the hump, while black/brown bears are smaller and have a flat back. Also you can tell by the paws, grizzles paws and claws are HUUUUGE

looks like a ton of fun, I love the zoo!

The diference between a brown bear and a grizzly bear is that the grizzly is much bigger, bulkier and grumpier

Looks like you had a good time. Looks like those otters are having a GREAT time

We wanted to take our son to the zoo only the zoo near us is small in comparison. The critters there were no were as neat as these.

So you mean to tell me they have lions tigers and bears but no wild horses.

They have zebras but they weren't out that day.

You can tell a difference between brown bears and grizzly bears just by the hump on their back. Grizzly bears have the distinct hump on their back, and they are generally larger.

I hate to say it. . . get ready with some rocks but that is a pretty small grizzly but up here in Alaska the bears just seem to be BIGGER

Those are cool pics, thanks for sharing! I love zoo's, we want to take our son to one this summer or maybe next. That's definetely a grizzly bear-as mentioned before the grizzly's have a hump right behind their head and a brown bear doesn't. It is a small to average size bear for around here (Montana). I couldn't imagine living in Alaska where they're double that size! And why someone would purposely stalk one to kill it ((shakes head in disbelief))
