spider bite **REALLY GRAPHIC**

I recieved this in the mail and thought I would share since we all have a passion for the outdoors and all equally hate spiders.

Just wanted to remind you to wear your gloves when working outside this year

THIS GUY WAS BITTEN BY A SPIDER LIKE THIS IN ONTARIO 2 YEARS AGO AND IT LITERALLY EATS YOU AWAY

SO BE WARNED THEY ARE HERE

If you don't look at but one picture, be sure you take a look at the last one so that you will know what the spider looks like!
It's springtime & cleanup is going on. Be careful where you put your hands. They like dark spaces & woodpiles.

This guy was bitten by a Brown Recluse spider.
Day 3

The following illustrates the progression of a brown recluse spider bite. The affected skin actually dies on his body!
Day 5

Some of the pictures towards the end are pretty nasty, but take a look at the last one - it is a picture of the spider itself.
Day 6

The Brown Recluse Spider is the most dangerous spider that we have in the USA & CANADA
Day 9

A person can die from it's bite. We all should know what the spider looks like
Day 10

Send this around to people you love, because it is almost summertime.

People will be digging around, doing yard work, spring cleaning, and sometimes in their attics.

The Dangerous Brown Recluse Spider

Please be careful. Spider bites are dangerous and can have permanent and highly negative consequences.

They like the darkness and tend to live in storage sheds or other areas that might not be frequented by people or light.

If you have a need to be in your attic, go up there and turn on a light and leave it on for about 30 minutes before you go in to do your work!
PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO YOUR RELATIVES AND FRIENDS!

My best friend was bit by one on her belly a couple of years ago. She thought it was a pimple until it started turning black and hurt so bad she couldn't even stand up. She had to go to the emergency room where they proceeded to drain what had now become a BASEBALL sized abscess. Whitney could not do anything for almost two weeks it hurt so badly. Almost 3 years later, her stomach is STILL BLACK in the area of the bite.

If you do get bit....get medical attention right away. We saw that guy's thumb online when researching, shortly after she got over her bite, he must have waited FOREVER!!

No, they don't get that big...

They are from very, very small to about the size of a quarter for the really big ones.

Oklahoma and Arkansas are where the biggst concentrations are in the states. Florida and California have them too, but I think the California version is a little different. They are actually more indoor spiders than outside spiders.

My house is full of them - they live in the walls. It has taken me several years to get them reasonably under control, but still kill maybe 50 or so a year. I keep those glue traps around and spray 3 or 4 times a year.

Luckily, they are not very aggressive. I have had them on me under my clothes numerous times, and have had them in bed, but don't know that I've been bitten - I'm not very allergic to most venoms, but some people are. Very nasty little things - I hate them.

Thats how the friend mentioned above, and her fiance both were bitten - in bed.

We are from FL and they live inside there as well - mostly in older houses. My friends actually had to move because the problem became so bad there...and you cannot spray for spiders apparently.

You are VERY lucky to not have been bitten by them if you have found them under your clothes!!!

Yes Saelym, they are also in B.C. along with the Black Widow. I think that you would be more prone to find them in the Interior and Cariboo though. I have a friend who lives in Ashcroft that was bitten by one a few years back. I have never seen one in the Lower Mainland though. Hopefully never will.

I'm pretty sure I had one in a hay bale the other evening. I was trying to kill it with a block of wood, cause I didn't want my husband being bitten the next morning when he grabbed the hay to feed. It looked just like the picture, only smaller. Thanks Face! I've actually seen some really big spiders in VA.

No they aren't...I wish people would stop this nonsense of passing this crap around the internet and getting people worked up and scared

Here is the info:
Brown recluse spiders are found primarily in the Midwest. Many cases of bites are reported from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. They are suspected of being in other states as well. The edge of its range just reaches the tip of western Virginia, but it occurs rarely in this state. The spider commonly lives in basements, attics and garages of houses and often hides behind boards and boxes.

You know most brown spider bites are actually misdiagnosed staph infections?

I'd believe that some of them are. The problem is that people send out emails like this one, people get them and get scared, and no one really has the REAL facts.

I'm not blaming the OP, I'm just saying that I wish people wouldn't worry about this stuff before they research the facts...like all the posts on here lately about people being afraid to swim because of sharks and big fish...it's because the stinkin media and other people play into the fear of the unknown.

I live in KS and my Hubby has been bit by one (had the corpse to prove it) and we have also battled staph infections that were diagnosed at first as spider bites. I'm overflowing in facts. I wish I didn't know near as much as I do!

It's actually pretty tough to get bit by one as they really only come out at night, live in dark very quiet places and have a very small range and would rather hide than bite. If you wear gloves while cleaning basements and attic your good. Also good idea to dump your shoes out in the morning.

The pictures in this thread are from Ontario, which is not mentioned in that list. So that just leads me to wonder if they are here, too. I'm not worried, just curious.

As usual, it's always a good idea to stop at www.snopes.com before posting something received via email.

Those pictures are NOT from Ontario. I've received that email many times and low and behold...the photos are from Texas, then Wisconsin, then California...someone just changes the place to make it relevant to where they are sending it.
