RIP in Petey the bunny

At 9:15 this morning I had my momma bunny Petey put to sleep due to some sort of paralysis. She had been dragging her hind end since Sunday and I hoped she would get better( even though I knew she wouldn't) and so this morning she was laid to rest and burried under a very shady tree with lots of flowers and where the wild bunnies hang out.

It was a very difficult choice as she had so much life in her and was only 5, she still ate, drank and groomed her guniea pig buddy--Miss Piggy. Miss Piggy is absolutely heartbroken and I pray I don't lose her as well. I have put Peteys son in with her and they seem to be doing well but Piggy is very sad and not as active as usual.

4 years ago, Petey had an oops litter of 5 babies. I was told she was a male and turns out she wasn't and was very pregnant! We wound up keeping all 5 babies (couldn't part with the adorable fuzz balls) so that brought the total bunny count to 8

Unfortunately we lost on baby when he was 3 months old, not sure why, and recently lost his brother 5 months ago. I hope Petey is in heavan enjoying being pain free and is reunited with her sons and my other rabbit that passed away 9 years ago.

May she rest in peace and enjoy the company of all the others that have passed over the rainbow bridge. I am still very devastated (I know it's just a rabbit) but I hate having to put an animal to sleep, I am never good at making the decision because I always question whether it's the right time.

Thanks for listening, I feel better now!!

Rabbits are so delicate it could have been a simple as moving the wrong way. I've got one here that has lost the use of his rear legs as well, he's not a pet but still it's sad and like you I was hoping that it was just pinched nerve and he'd recover. We are having ours put down this afternoon.

Hugs to you
Karen

Oh how sad for you Southriversales and Karen Cole

Bunnies may not be a cat or a dog but they are loved just as much.

I lost Dusty a few weeks ago.

RIP little ones.
