I noticed the fuzzies started to come in a couple weeks ago. Short hair has been shedding for a month. I hope this isn't an indication of the winter to come. I know the days are getting shorter but it's not time yet.

We're getting fuzzy; trees are just beginning to turn, not actually showing color, just have that pre-change pale look; there was a wooly worm on the garage floor that, before I had a chance to sweep, has already pupated; hummers are gone, and the geese are arriving. The Farmers Almanac says it's going to be a long, cold, white winter.

I just finally got the rest of the fuzz off my yearling and he had a nice summer coat -- now he is beginning to look a bit on the fluffy side. My TWH has started his winter coat as well.

yep all of my minis, except one, are getting their winter coats coming in. They are all sweating and miserable. I have started the daunting task of clipping noses to shoulders. I clip the chests too but leave the rest of the body. The one that isnt shedding out yet is getting glossy and looks better now than she has all year. I've also noticed that The grass is barely growing. We got all that rain last week. The grass should have grown like 3 inches but nope. Got like 3/4 an inch in the yard. Pasture looks the same as before the rain *maybe due to too many little mouths eatting it all up*.

I thought it was getting dark way too early in the year. Not looking forward to it being cold. No heat in da house. Might have to invest in an electric blanket.

So glad to see this post- my 3 are getting fuzzy as well! If their coats keep coming an at this rate, they will be fuzzy bears this winter! I am going to try to get one last bath in this week before they are totally shaggy...

I also am grad to see others are having this problem! I will be clipping this weekend, too. It kinda scared me that one is getting her woolies already. I don't know why it scared me, but I guess I am just a worrier.

Up here in Alaska everybody's winter fuzzies are coming in Oh well... I suppose it is what I get for living up here I sure wouldn't move anywhere else! Not too many people get to go jetskiing in Prince William Sound, Whittier Alaska. The horses are getting more frisky with the cool weather coming in

I saw a big fat black woolly worm crossing the road yesterday. That is never a good sign. Gonna be a cold one this year....

Mine are suiting up for winter already as well. Loads and bunches off berries hanging on the bushes, more then I have seen in years. Hummmm, birds already flying south too!!? Oh boy, I think we are in for a long cold winter!!!!

Yea!! I am sitting here hot, dirty, and sweaty... I just came inside from feeding, where I have to add water to pellets, supplement wet bran, fight flies, spray wasp nests, hose the horses twice daily, add salt and cider vinegar to water troughs, add electrolytes, fight thrush, apply flymasks, and walk around in a jacuzzi of humid 96 deg weather. We can't ride during the day, or camp, or show. We can barely drag ourselves out in the nauseating heat to feed and care for the animals. And the vets/farriers have it really bad.

At this point, all I can say about winter is:

BRING IT ON!!!!!!!

I have said this before, and I will say it again. Our Summer is the equivalent of a northern winter. Sure there's things to do during our rough seasons, but we are so happy to see them go when the end nears. Just wait, when ya'll are complaining about winter, this will be us:

Mini's are fuzzing up here, too. And it's HOT. Though, I want to say they fuzzed up earlier last year because I body clipped again in August. They're not quite to that point yet.
