What paper work would i need to transport from ND to Fl. I know coggins and health cert. Is that all??

What shots are recommended??

Anything else special?

I always travel with a copy of my bill of sale papers too just to prove ownership. My state (at least this side) doesn't require brand papers for horses...so the bill of sale is the only thing I have to prove ownership.

If your state requires brand papers, I think you're supposed to keep those with the horse. Otherwise just coggins and health.

I don't give any special shots to haul my horses. They just have their regular vaccinations. Someone who lives in FL can better recommend what they like to have down there for vaccinations though.

I would recommend getting the West Nile, Strangles and EWVT since its summer and the skeeers are bad. Also, If they are going via transport company I would definatly make sure they are UTD on everything. You dont want sick horses. But thats just me. Im very germaphobic and paranoid. Coggins and health cert is all you need to transport to Florida.

The only suggestion I have is to call ag dept. in florida, than have a vet from startiing point do exactly what is needed.
Usually vets know what is needed.
Florida is kind of trickky wanting everything from a vet.
plus sales contract and bill of sale, and I would also include permission from
you to transportor.

FL, is not that tricky to transport horses in.
Nothing special is required from a Vet, just the coggins and health cert.
All you need is a coggins and health cert., and thats what the State Ag., will tell you.

I have had many loads of mustangs come in and that is all that is required.
I just transported my 5 horses home from AR., to FL., and have had horses transported in.
On just a coggins and health cert.

If they come down 10 through the Pan Handle they may need to do a temp check. Down 75, they dont require a temp check.

You do not need anything special or a bill of sale.
If you are getting a transporter to haul, the paperwork between you two will include the permission to transport. Thats in the contract you should sign before transport.

As for shots, yes to EWT and what ever you feel the horse may need.

For a trip that long I would have the owners put the horse on probios about 3 days before the trip and the day of the trip. I would also give soaked beet pulp. A lot of horses dont like to drink while they are traveling and get really dehydrated. Doing probios and soaked beet pulp will help a lot. We do this with show horses that have a long travel and show.

Thanks for all the info. I hope everything goes well with getting the boys here in Sept. I've put them on my website now on the stallions page. I cant wait to get them they are from the buckaroo line. I'm planning on showing them while they are young to build up their pablicity. One is a tad bit taller than the other so i can probably show them both at the same show since they break up the height classes.

Congrats on the new additions.

You are about an hour and half from me.
Maybe we can plan a meeting with a few other HTians.

Don't forget to pack a medical bag/first aid kit for the horse. You never know what could happon on a long trip like that.
