Talking Unusual ways of Mini transport?

OK, I'm reading up on Mini horses and Shetlands. In one book there's a photo of a Mini riding in the backseat of an SUV with his head out the window! I've read you can put them in the back of a truck with a camper shell on it. How about Minis riding in a Mini van? (no pun intended....) Goat people sometimes ship their goats in a very large dog crate...can you do that with a mini horse?
What's the oddest way you've heard or seen a mini transported? (I'm visualizing horse waste on car seats here...!)

I don't think you can ship a mini in a dog crate

LOL like on that TV show Rob and Big, they make an area for their mini horse (Mini G LOL) in the back of their SUV.

Well, much to the horror of my teenage son, I brought Peanut
home in the back seat of my truck.
I just fliped up the back seat, and he went right in.
He had never been hauled anywere, and was a yearling.
He was such a good boy.
My son slid down in his seat and prayed no one saw us,
especailly the cops. We passed 2 on the way home.
It was about a 30 mile trip.
Would I do it again, probably not, but then again depends
on the circumstances.

I will second that. Even the smallest of minis < even dwarfs> won't fit.

My mini goes in a horse trailer - full size.

They do make horse trailers just for minis.

I too have seen goats in mini vans, they just
drop the back seat down.

Back of the van....

Actually, I've seen crates for minis in the backs of pickups. Thing is, you would still need a ramp to get the mini up there.

Ours go in the trailer, but they have been known to travel in the back of the van when we had one.

I've never heard of Rob and Big. Just Googled it and am trying to download an episode but the connection is so sl-o-o-o-o-w-w-w. We're on the cheapest tier for satellite tv to save money, and unfortunately we don't have MTV.

OMG...I just saw the episode of them taking the mini to a show, and I'm cracking up! I used to have a French Bulldog, and I KNOW between the dog and the horse, those guys must have just been dying from the smells alone! On a personal note, I'm a bit horrified the guys don't wear seat belts, but that's just me...

Sitting in traffic a few weeks ago, I looked over at what I first thought was a dog in the back of a Volkswagon Jetta. It was not a dog, it was a mini horse! In fact, it was TWO of them one had been laying down in the seat. They stood next to each other with thier noses out the window as traffic picked up and they drove away.

I have brought home 2 minis in the back of my mini van. Then dad and I made a box for the back of his truck out of 2x4's and plywood with a really steep ramp. They walked right up it and rode just fine

When we trying to sell our horse Honey last year, a lady, her niece & Grandmother brought their mini for us to see in (yup you got it) a mini van! It was so cute, but, there was mess in the back & you know it had to stink. I think it is funny, but i wouldnt want that smell in my vehicle!

Talking

Have a friend in California that takes her mini to shows in her old dodge car. She has taken the back seat out and he rides in the back seat area

I used to have one that would climb into the back of my datsun pickup and as long as someone would ride with him in the back he would ride back there. I moved him as far as 20 miles that way

My old work partner told me about a small pony mare he had as a little kid, that his dad won in a poker game - and brought home in the back of a Buick Roadmaster station wagon, ON THE BACK SEAT. They took her to a couple of county fairs that way, too. He didn't know what kind of pony she was, only that she was quite tiny, a right little b**ch, and bit like the devil himself.

I hauled my mini's in the back of a 1996 Honda Passport! Pulled into McDonalds to order some lunch and I told the young lady at the window the kids in the back wanted icecream, she said "oh well what do they want?" I rolled down the window and told her to ask them herself and when she saw it was two 3 month old mini's she went crazy and everyone came running over to look. Needless to say it was a site to see! They hauled great, put plastic down, and hay and after I got home, just pulled the plastic out and threw everything away. For the first two months of their life, if I went out of town to my daughter's I would carry them with me in the back of the Honda.
