Should I bathe and shave or brush and bathe?

I've put off grooming my mini girls as the weather has been cold. Temp is up today so I thought I'd tackle the job. This is Misty and I have not touched her yet as you can tell. Well I've decided today is the day!

Should I bathe her and then shave... or brush her out and then bathe her? She is shedding heavily so I thought I'd do her first.

I don't think I'll get to all the girls but just in case I do...the before shot

Wow thats a lot of hair! I would shave it all off then bathe, why wash it if you don't have to.

We need some after pics!

i dont like to body clip going into summer, so i would just brush, brush, brush and brush some more. when all of that fuzziness comes out and the summer coat has grown all the way in it will be beautiful from all the grooming. so brush and bathe is my vote

Why, I do believe there is a little horsey under all that hair! I say shave it off, then bathe.

You need to collect that hair and have a fancy sweater made...

Wow a couple of mine look just like that from roughing it all winter.
I would say wet them down, get good shedding blade, (water keeps hair from flying around).after shedding, than bathe with shampoo and rinse.,

Have fun.
after them, It will be time for a cold Ice Tea with lemon.

I dotto that. By grooming for a few days, you will get alot of the dead hair out and put alot less stress on your clippers.

Definatly a bath when the job is all done !!

Have fun !!

My back kills me after I get done clipping my mini !!

Bathe and get off what you can and then brush well.
AFTER that then clip...and yes I would clip them.
I never clip dirty hair-hard on the clippers and dulls your blades.

I'm glad that mine are not the only ones with their woollies on yet But the last 2 nights we still got hit with frost. I plan on tackling mine this weekend. I'd brush then bathe, that way you don't dull the blades any more than you have to.

farmergal,
their cute little hair balls.
I see a lot of brushing in your future.
I would do like ToveroMom suggested.
I would get them as clean as you can before clipping.
Peanut did not shed last year, like he's doing this year.
And that's how I went about getting him cliped.
Will be looking forward to seeing the after pictures of your cuties.

I would not clip unless all your cool weather is gone. I clipped my mini thinking that she was miserable in the heat Than we had a cool snap. I had to blanket her to keep her from freezing. I would brush, brush, brush, a dogs shedding come works great.

Keep in mind that dirt is hard on clippers. If your minis have access to sand they love to roll in it and it will help shed them out and put a beautiful shine on their coats. A friend brot in a small truckload just for her minis and the sand was hardly out of the truck and they were gleefully rolling in it.

I would brush like crazy....then bath them.....then brush them again....then clip them.

clippers cannot go thru mats so be sure and get those out before you try to clip
