My mini mare lost her foal

We are so sad. We were checking her every few hours and she delivered between "checks". When we got down to the barn at 6:30, she was laying on his legs, but jumped up and started pawing at him to get up. He was completely licked clean with open eyes, so we think he was born fine, but that Priscilla laid on him and crushed/smothered him. It was really hard watching hubby cry - this is his favorite little mare and we were just hoping for a successful birth. Priscilla is fine, but still looking for her colt.

I am so sorry to hear about that. Maybe you can install stall cameras for future so you don't have to go thru this again. Baby monitors work well too.. It was an accident. I am sure your mare is grieving just as much as you. Hugs to all.

I am SO sorry. The mini at our barn just lost hers, too, the baby was not able to break the bag. It is so heartbreaking... (((HUGS)))

My thoughts and prayers as it is never easy to loose any of them, especially the little ones.

it is so heartbreaking, I just lost my paint mare's foal a few weeks ago. I was so devastated that I spent most of the day in tears. I was just thankful that my mare was ok. (((hugs)))

I know how it is to lose a foal. Sometimes it's just not meant to be. Prayers for you, your hubby and your little mare.
