Question questions for mini owners

I've always admired miniatures though I've never been around that many. How did you get into miniatures and what are your favorite things about being a mini owner or breeder? What activities do you enjoy doing with your miniatures?

We have owned, shown, trained and bred miniatures and shetland ponies almost 9 or 10 years now (wow it goes by fast)

I previously grew up riding quarter horses and always knew horses would be back in my life. But in my late 30's I knew my bones dont bounce anymore like they used to and watched lots of friends sustain pretty bad injuries from riding horses. Soooo we picked miniatures and shetlands and have never regretted it.

I think my favorite part is training. I so love training horses and its a passion of mine. I love breeding too but it can be emotionally and financially devastating when things go wrong. I always warn people getting into the breeding part it is not for the faint of heart. Especially with miniatures as they do tend to have more foaling problems.

I also really enjoy showing. Its so fun to be with horse people all weekend and get to talk non stop horse without someones eyes glazing over LOL

I've had ponies since I was a little girl than progressed to Quarter Horses. I've allways had horses on and off ever since (sometimes life gets in the way ) BUT I keep bouncing back! I injured my arms about 6 years ago and finally had to give up my horses. It drove me absolutely crazy!!! Finally one day I borrowed a pony to give the grandkids pony rides at a party I was having, well, the pony never went home , I made out so good with her I was in love all over again! I found with the pony I was able to keep my arms much lower so it doesn't hurt so bad to brush them out, feed etc is all in smaller quantities so therefore not as heavy, much more manageable for me! Then came along a little mini that had been mistreated so of course she had to be a keeper, AND THEN this cute little filly came along with her mommy of course , and now here I am today the proud owner of one pony and three mini's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
