We have owned, shown, trained and bred miniatures and shetland ponies almost 9 or 10 years now (wow it goes by fast)
I previously grew up riding quarter horses and always knew horses would be back in my life. But in my late 30's I knew my bones dont bounce anymore like they used to and watched lots of friends sustain pretty bad injuries from riding horses. Soooo we picked miniatures and shetlands and have never regretted it. I think my favorite part is training. I so love training horses and its a passion of mine. I love breeding too but it can be emotionally and financially devastating when things go wrong. I always warn people getting into the breeding part it is not for the faint of heart. Especially with miniatures as they do tend to have more foaling problems. I also really enjoy showing. Its so fun to be with horse people all weekend and get to talk non stop horse without someones eyes glazing over LOL
