what's your favorite thing about your minis?

I have always admired miniature horses even though I've not had much experience around them. So to all of you who are mini hobbyists or breeders, what would you say are some of the best parts of being a mini owner? And what are your favorite things to do with your minis?

My favorite thing to do with my mini is drive on trails or basically anywhere I know the cart can make it, lol. I also love the minis for their personalities. They always seem to show them more than big horses do.

Samson, our miniature gelding, is only 28 inches at the withers, so we have always thought he is too tiny to pull a cart. He is so spoiled though, he would probably be offended at the suggestion he do anything but look cute!

We love to watch Sammy play tag with our collie and Great Pyrenees, they are great buddies. And sometimes in the winter they all curl up together and sleep, and the cat joins them, its very cute.

When my husband was laid up due to getting hit by a van, Sammy would come in the house and hang out with Dave while he watched football. He comes in the house every now and then and immediately heads for the fridge to see if there are apples or carrots in there.

My friend has two little girls who just love Sammy. When they come over they give him a bath and comb and braid his mane and tail. Sammy adores children and will follow them anywhere.

We think he's a pretty special little guy.

Horselady,

That picture is over a year old, you should see his mane now! He's all hair, the kids love to mess with it and braid it. I'll have to get some current pics for you.

i own 1 mini. i cant say about em all, but mine... i love his heart best!
he is broke to ride.my daughter rode him everywhere till she outgrew him. he will actually keep up with the big horses on trails ALL day long. we used to race, and id give them a head start. when he would hear my mares shoes pounding behind him, well he would just go like heck. of course they always won the race. hee hee. he bosses our 16 hh gelding. went out one morning and poor vega had little hoofprints on his ribs. how that little **** managed to jump that high, ill never know. he has lots of heart!!!
we free leased him this summer, but he came back month ago. my daughter brushes him, bathes, and takes him for walks down the road. if we are outside, sometimes we get him out and let him graze free. little fella knows his yard and stays right in the back yard. id love to get a cart and harness but just cant afford it right now.

We just bought our first mini in Sept. My daughter's baby... She wants to show him in driving classes is what she tells me. I think she was smitten by his size He is 4 months old. Parents both 31" tall.
I know she loves teaching him everything. Shiloh had not been handled prior being brought to the mini catalog sale. She has taught him to lead, to stand for getting his feet cleaned, learning to accept fly spray. Not sure what it is about him that make her heart go pitter patter but he sure does.
Here is Just a little bit of Shiloh

I think my 28" .... "ten feet tall and bullet proof" personality is what make my little guy so special. He definatly is 100% personality

My favorite part is training them. I am so fascinated by how a horse learns and thinks and to me is the best part of owning them. I am teaching Feature to do the Spanish Walk in hand.

Thanks for all the replies and love the pictures. I think they are all beautiful. I wouldn't mind owning one someday. I think for Christmas I would like to find someone who could give me a few instructional classes on harnessing and driving.

Big wooly teddy bear hugs in the winter!

I love that mine have always done whatever I asked and that they are so dang cute!

"10 feet tall and bullet proof." Truer words have never been spoken.
