HT Spotlight #36

Hideaway and I would like to present Country-Mare's All Jacked Up

LMJ All Jacked UP
barn name Jack
He is a 2 1/2 year old registered
American Shetland
He stands around 42 inches tall
and is a red roan sabino pinto.

1. How long have you had Jack and where did you get him?

After deciding that I wanted to keep horses in my life
and looking at minis, welshs and some shetlands,
I came across a web site for some shetlands in
North Texas. I fell in love with a bay stallion. I found
out the owner and I went to school together,
it's really a small world.
So when her next foal crop hit the ground, and I
saw the foals, I can honestly say Jack was not
my first choice. But now I'm so glad that he's the
one that I bought home.
He's been with me since he was weaned. He's
allowed me to keep horses in my life,
and brought much laughter and joy also to my
life.

2. What is your best moment together?

Our best moment together would have to be the day
I could catch him without without halter and drag,
anywere in the pasture and come up to me of his
on free will.
That's when he finally let me know he trusted me.

3. What has been the biggest roadblock in training Jack and how did you overcome it?

When Jack got here, he was scared, nervous, and
just a little bit nutty. He didn't trust anyone.
After letting him take the time he needed to settle
in, lots of patience, and finding him a companion
he has become the loving pony I was looking for.

4. What has been your greatest achievement as a team?

I guess that would be that we have formed a bond.
He likes doing things with me now. I can sit out in
the pasture and he will come up and put his head
on my shoulder as to ask what are we going to do now?

5. What is your favorite thing about Jack?

My favorite thing about Jack is how smart he is.
Sometimes he's to smart for his own good. Once you
show him something he doesn't forget it.
Then there's his color, he would be hard to lose in a crowd.

6. What is the least favorite thing?

I don't thinks there's anything that I dislike about him.
But he can be a little stubborn at times.

7. What is his favorite treat?

He really likes carrots, and he's pickey about trying
new things.

8. What has surprised you the most about Jack?

Jack doesn't trust most people and it will take him
a while to warm up to people, but he loves kids.
And he will walk right up to them and love on the when they come to see him.

9. What are your future plans for Jack?

Right now we are working on ground driving, and getting ready to start cart training next spring.
Hopefully one day we will enter a show ring.
Jack comes from a great line of show ponies.
Jack is young,so we are just taking things slowly
and one day at a time.

One of my very favorite little guys ever! I love him, and also love the fact that he and his adorable little sidekick allow you to still be around horses!

Great spotlight indeed...A wonderful way to be able to enjoy the things you love, with that special equine companion. Jack is growing into a handsome gentleman, and I wish you both many cart rides in the future!

I'm curious.. what's his breeding? Is he from Rock E lines?

He sure has that Rock E stance. I have a friend who raises shetlands, and she has quite a few Rock E bred shetlands who have a relatively distinctively look, and Jack sure seems to have the Rock E neck and build!

He's beautiful!
