Perlino QH Stallion

My friend has bought a 4 year old Quarter Horse stallion... whether thats a good or bad thing I dont know. She's definitely fully capable of handling a stallion... but why she needs one is something Im still trying to work out.

She brought him to his first show today. He did FABULOUS. He hung out at the trailer all day, no fussing or causing a problem. He is an incredibly well minded young man. Previous to June/July he did not have much handling other than being led from point a to point b with a chain over his nose.

She offered me a free breeding to him in the future. We'll see... Im definitely in no hurry to be putting more babies out there.

Im not real happy with how the photo's turned out. In person he looked much nicer. I gave up getting him to stand square. He's filthy, unconditioned, and beat up from one of her geldings but it was a spur of the momentnt decision to take some photo's.

His registered name is Docs Tyree Skip, he is on allbreed.

Standing at the trailer, my mare she wants to breed to is the bay on the right.

^^ Wrong angle for such a photo.

"Ill move over Mom, just dont whack me."

So... whatcha think?

He sure is a pretty boy. I know how you feel with the pictures, the horses will stand square in the pasture, covered in dirt and flies but as soon as you give them a bath and get them pretty, they look horrible.

Mhm! He's never been asked to stand exactly so and so it didnt work too well. He also just doesnt seem to be all that photogenic. Or it could be my photography skills but for now Im going to blame him.

He is beautiful. Likely still filling out since he is 4 so he can only get better. What is pedigree like?

I am not knowledgeable on cowhorse breeding by any means. He's a ggson of Smart Little Lena/gson of a Superior Reining horse. Gson of Freckles Playboy and Zan Parr Sun. I only know the very well known names.

Thanks Duns! Shes excited!

She didnt buy him as a breeding animal. She'll probably breed him once or twice every other year or so if that. In general she just has a thing for stallions and enjoys working with them. Shes a bit loony IMHO.

I like him, he looks balanced and correct. I think he's going to be a very nice horse when he's grown and filled out!

Did she get him from a lady out west of Princeton? If so I've met him in person but about a year ago. He was a very nice looking boy then even. I may have some pictures from back them around here somewhere.

Not overly athletic but a very powerful mover. More of a roping/maybe barrel type of horse rather than the cowhorse/reiner as the top of his pedigree would make you think.

Yep, that would be him! How cool is that, what a small world we live in. Somewhere buried on a cd I have that top photo. A good friend of mine took it for her.

I loved him then! He's surely a nice boy!

Wow, he is handsome. What a good find. She is lucky to have him. As for breeding I have no idea, I'm not too big into breeding, just buying lol

He's pretty nice looking, and has a nice pedigree. Your friend sounds pretty reasonable with her plans for him, and he sounds like he has a nice mind. If you think he'd cross well with your mare, I don't think it would be a bad idea at all

At little off topic, but he's somewhat related to my colt, through his sire's side http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/watch+zan+zipaway , who is the same age as your friend's new boy

Yep, Dusty is a Minnesota stud. He stands in Staples. www.gbjquarterhorses.org

Zan Parr Sun stands at Sunup Quarter Horses in Brainerd. www.sunupranch.com

Two of my favorite studs.
