Introducing Dakota!

Finally! I've been locked out of HT all day because I changed my email address yesterday. Talk about withdrawal.

Anyway, I did it again. I bought another horse.

I have been wrestling with myself the last few days about the horse that I am free leasing. She's a good ole gal but she has an obvious limp at the trot that has not gone away or gotten better like her owner said it would. I'm not certain but I think it may be some type of ringbone (she has a hard lump on one of her front legs right above the hoof). Besides that she is 22 y/o and, combined with the limp, I am reluctant to take her out on the trails. I don't want to injure her further by strenuous activity.

So when I decided I should send her back, I started looking at horses again and found Dakota. He has some battle scars (just gives him character) and a wind puff on his hind leg but he's 100% sound and gorgeous. He rides like a charm. He was originally listed for $3000 but then reduced to $1000 and I bought him for $850. His registered name is Sir Rawhide Dakota (he's not on allbreed yet but his sire - sir robin hood - is). http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/sir+robin+hood3. He's 12 y/o and 15.1 hands, tiger markings on his legs, dun strip down his back, two blue eyes, UTD on all shots/farrier/dentist and has great ground manners.

Once I get him home I will take more and better pictures but here is one to hold you over.

WOW he is gorgeous! He is flashy to a degree that you hardly ever see.

What a great way to get a horse. Just goes to show, when one door is closed, a window opens.

Thanks everyone for the compliments on my new boy, Dakota. I'm so anxious to get him home, but I think it won't happen until sometime next week. I have to get the owner of the mare I'm leasing to come get her ... but if that doesn't happen first, I'll just take Dakota to the boarding facility where I work on the weekends until she's gone. Even so, that'll give me a chance to try him out in the indoor arena and have some one on one bonding time (my other mare, Katie, gets jealous very easily).
