New Sterling pictures

Thought I'd post some new Sterling pictures. We've been weaning the past week and this has been the easiest weaning I've ever done. Sterling is so good and easy to manage and respects the fence so well. Rain has been good too and hasn't really cared much that her baby is gone. I'm really surprised because she was such a terrific mother. I've been off riding her and everything and she doesn't think twice about baby. Kind of sad on Sterlings part that mother doesn't care anymore but it just makes him more excited when I come out. As nice as he is I still have a hard time getting shots of him that do him justice.

Aw, what a cutie! I love his coloring right now, that transition rose grey.

He sure looks like he's going to be a handsome boy when he's all grown up!

Thanks for the comments! He is growing like a weed and getting much bigger than I expected. I was NOT expecting a big baby from this cross. I'm very eager to see how big he ends up. I know he won't be huge but it will be neat if he can at least get as big as his dam (14.3).

I love him... In your avatar it looks like he has that "look at me" attitude.. Thats a great attitude to have especially if you have a show career planned...

I love the 4 picture... looks like he has some movement...

what is he about 5 1/2 months old now?

rain looks like she lost alot of her dapples and is more (white)

must be hard thinking what to do with him..(keeping him a stud or gelding)

either way he'll be a nice boy..

Oh yes, I definitely want to keep this boy. I have decided yet what to do with him. He's so nice it seems a total waste to geld him but I have never had any desire to own a stallion. I just don't want to fool with the breeding and seperate care that a stallion would require. I could do so much more with him if he were a gelding but I cringe at the thought of gelding such a nice colt. I really don't know what I will do yet.

I am hoping to show him next year (economy willing). He is a really nice mover when he wants to show off. He just wasn't willing to show off this morning. Just wanted to stare at Mama.

He's Al-Marah breeding on his sires side. He's sired by Al Marah Fight Fair who has three lines to Dreamazon. His dam has The Real McCoy, Sara Jean (Ferzon's full sister), Imaraff, Forever Czar, Elkin and Komsul.

Yes, he will be 6 months in about 3 weeks. Rain has lost a lot of her dapples and has really been graying fast. It is amazing how fast they can change.

I'll be honest, I grew a QH girl and for the most part I still am, but I always thought Arabians were just gorgeous, but never really had an interest in owning one. BUT THEN I found horsetopia and have seen all the wonderful Arabians many of you own and I must say when I am once again able to buy a horse I'm not going to cross Arabian off my list. So thank you all for opening my eyes

You know, I'm not a big Arabian person, and I'm not the greatest at picking out conformation. People on here are sometimes saying about newborn foals look at the quality etc. and I don't see anything apart from a cute foal.

BUT

The first time I saw this boy I went WOW, he looks awesome and screams star quality at this person who knows nothing. Usually I'm a person who would be shouting geld him, but like you I think it may be a hasty decision to geld this one.

I understand the reservations you have about keeping a stud and the responsibilities that go with that, and if you do geld him he is going to be an awesome gelding.

Keep us updated with pictures as he grows and as you make that important decision about his future
