Meet Aries

Well, I got another horse to work with. Basically I'll be putting free training into him and in exchange I get a decent english horse to ride and show if we get to that level. He's a coming 6 year old Trakehner gelding. He's a LOOOONG horse - everything about him is pretty long and gangly right now, but he's been sitting in a flat pasture not doing much, so I think his appearance will change dramaticly.

Definitely needs some muscle and could use a little more meat on him, but he's got a huge overreach and a super floaty trot! With some work I think he'll make a pretty good horse - seems to have a nice attitude overall, relatively laid back back but a hint of some spunk in there!

I miss riding english, and will still be working with Summer the little grade QH, but wanted to do some english again and I can't afford two horses - so, his owner gets free training (at my barn we can't charge for training or lessons, anything we do has to be volunteer cause the owners don't want someone "making money" off their place - that's a whole nuther story). But, it works for me, gives me a chance to show what I can do with a horse and maybe eventually get some paying customers even if it's not much more than a side job!

So, here are his pics...and a link to his dad so we can see his potential

Before cleaning him up (although I had already clipped his bridle path and whiskers):

After the grooming:

Sorry for the quality, they were taken with my cell phone!

You're right, he is long, but seems like a very nice boy.
Good luck with it all!

Very relaxed looking fellow, and yep lots of body to work with. From what I know about Traekner's ( very little) he seems to have a bit heavier rear end yes?

Lot's of range in that shoulder as well...should cover lots of flat with this guy. Keep us posted, it sound like a win - win for both of you!
