My Gay Babysitter

My gay babysitter... you read right.

I've got this '99 registered QH gelding named Quincy. Well, he is gay, and he is the babysitter for my mares who foal out (until he's sold, anyway).

So today I managed to get some shots today to show you guys. It really is the cutest thing.

He follows them around everywhere, and mom's don't get too worried about leaving the young ones in his care while they get some down time.

Notice baby sleeping in the background?

I have one of those special horses too! His name is Sam, he's the big guy in my avatar with the wide blaze and white legs. It's hilarious to watch him playing with the little guys, he's so good with them.

How cute.. He just wants to play with them.. makes hime feel young again, not that he is that old....

That is great that mom gets some down time and still the baby is protected..

I wonder though, have you ever seen Quincy really protect baby over something?? Is he just like a gaurd dog protecting its people.. If so that is just the best thing in the world..

My Morgan QH does that....wherever the babies are, you'll find him....he also protected a just born foal (that we were in the process of checking the mares at the time) and saw this cutting horse gelding attacking and taking chunks out of the baby as it was laying there, bitewounds all over the mane and withers from this a$$hole of a horse (that we sold soon after) and Mac was running in between the foal on the ground and the cutting horse taking kick after kick for this little foal....when we realized what was happening, hubby ran out there to sloo him away (with what??) he yells get the truck! So, I jump in the truck, bust through the metal gate without stopping and drive over to where they were......hubby's trying his best to pick the foal up and sling him in the back of the truck and the horse kept trying to bite and run over hubby.....well, Mac started running, squeeling and kicking at the cutting horse....and believe me, Mac took several hard shots off that mean a$$ horse but hubby had enough time to get the baby in and he told me to GO! I sped off with them in the back out through the gate and the cutting horse was running trying to bite at hubby in the back of the truck! Hubby was beating him off with his cowboy hat....we finally made it out of the pasture and went to get the mare which was still down from foaling efforts.....BUT Mac even kept that horse at bay away from hubby during a fierce kick at hubby.....Mac's my hero.....oh, and of course my husband is too!

I've seen him chase away the other mares from them, once he chooses a baby to stay with, and won't let them near.
I was riding my gelding Blue and and he started coming after us until he got a swat with the reins across his butt.

My dog is smart enough to keep his distance from most of the horses, but big enough that he keeps away all the coyotes and such so we never really have a problem with that area.

Definately a keeper, I'd say!

Well, you know there are some people where after you meet them for five minutes you're like "Definately gay."? That's sort of how it is with Quince... just his whole demeanor.

Then, he does prefer colts to fillies. He'll watch over any, but he does prefer colts. Last year Rev was his baby. LOL

And his neigh!
Keep in mind, Quince is this 16.1hh monstorous Quarter Horse gelding... I had him tied up to the rail when I was in college after riding and was just putting my grooming kit away and I'm always the last one out because I take forever grooming, but when all the other horses started leaving, he let out this.... pitiful, pitiful little neigh.

Loud, don't get me wrong. The whole entire arena (myself included) stopped and turned to look at him like "What the heck was that?!". Then again, he let out this awful girlie neigh, and then I swear, the whole arena started laughing at him.
So I had to run to untie him to bring out before he did anymore damage to his rep.
