Horsetopia Horse #21

Nomeanjean and I would like to introduce Sweet Pea owned by Kahlua Twist.

Here is what she had to say about Sweet Pea.

Sweet Pea is a large pony mare, about 8 years (no papers). She is of unknown breeding, but if I had to guess I'd say a good mix of Welsh, QH and likely a dash of standardbred. She's the best equine a girl could ask for! I got her from an auction, green broke and bred to a Jack (found out after I bought her ). She gave birth to a lovely mule, Ernie, on March 29th 2005. Since then, I've been riding and showing her in any discipline yo can think of - she does WP, trail, reining, HUS, Hunter O/F (with a grudge ), games and driving. There's nothing she can't do! We make quite a team.

1. How long have you had Sweet Pea and where did you get her?
I have had her 5 years and got her from an auction in Thessalon. I still see her previous owners around and she loves to see Sweet Pea in action!

2. What is your best moment together?
Geez - just one? I like riding her bareback and bridleless all over the yard and down the road. We have fun just wandering - I trust her completely, so it's always a nice ride.

3. What was your biggest roadblock in training Sweet Pea and how did you overcome it?
That would have to be figuring out what she really liked - her "thing" is reining and she's darn good at it! This summer we'll show ORHA

3. What has been your greatest achievement as a team?
I think our best show moment was when we won the Large Pony class at the New Liskeard Fall Fair.

4. What is your favorite thing about her?
I like that she likes me. She isn't the same for anyone else. She knows what I'm thinking

5. What is the least favorite thing?
She can act up when we ride with others - she's ridiculously competitive and likes to race, so she can act like a twit. Doesn't bother me at all, but I can't let someone else try her out with a group - her training flies out the window!

6. What is her favorite treat?
She loves apples, but she's a real pig so she'll eat anything you give her!

7. What are your future plans for Sweet Pea?
I hope to show her at ORHA shows and get her a show record. I may breed her some day, only because I always want a piece of her. But, otherwise we'll just have fun together! Whatever she wants to do is what I want to do with her

On to the pictures that we all need.

Sweet Pea's handsome son, Ernie.

Wonderful story, and seems to be a perfect match.

I have to say, she looks awesome in all her disciplines, but truely elogant in English!

Sweet pea is quite elegant, I can see why you guessed what you did about her breeding. And then to top all of that, she's versatile and a tremendous friend. Boy, pretty cool stuff. And that Ernie! What a character, cute as a bug and probably a handful. This is a great idea!

Well, if she is that versatile, obviously there is some Appy in her background...

I love a horse that can do it all. I think the ones that can really enjoy the variety.

Very nice mare...
