Finally! Meet Serenity's Dream (Jean's Foal)

Sure enough, Dreamer Jean decided to wait until Danny returned (thank God!) and for a monster thunderstorm to come through and make everything muddy as all get out earlier in the evening.

Danny woke me at 12:45 and said it was time. To hurry....I have never flown so quickly from the bed! So out in my pajamas I go (he in his undies and tee

).

Sure enough, she is standing, amniotic sac and two feet have emerged. And she's pacing. Will not lay down. I panic. This is exactly reminiscent of her last foaling (not a good outcome then). I can see that she is still contracting, so I just tell Danny to wait. Nature knows the way, we don't need to intervene. Yet.

She laid down with the next contraction and then stood right back up, feet still sticking out. I reached my hand in to check the position of the nose and head, and it was there, in the right spot. So on the next contraction, Danny and I pulled. And pulled. And pulled. All the while with her still standing. Finally, out the foal came, with Danny and I catching it before it hit the ground. Nothing like an amniotic shower at 1 am!

The bag broke open and we rubbed it out good til everything was clear and it was obviously breathing. Yes, I can say that at that point I cried.

And so without further ado, I would like to introduce you to Dreamer Jean's new filly (yes!) Serenity's Dream.

(And for the Eeyore lover amongst us, check out the ear! First comment from Adreanna was that she looks just like Eeyore! Her one ear was obviously folded funny in there. It is still working on unfolding properly)

Serenity is so tall and leggy! And the exact same color as her momma!

See the ear more clearly?

The waiting is finally over! Regular sleep patterns, here I come!
