How to Post Photos

Hi everyone,

Here are instructions on how to post photos. Thanks to Muttduck for the clear instructions.

Everyone has trouble with pics in the beginning, I have found having two windows open to bounce between is easiest. I'm putting the help for both the contest and avatars, just in case you need it...

Photo contest:
Make sure the pic is a .jpg or gif file first. Then, under the photo in photobucket, there are three boxes. They are "Url" "Tag" and "Img" You need to highlight everything in the "Img" box and right click/copy. (It should begin with [img]....)

Then reply in the photo contest thread, and right click/paste, it should transfer all of the needed data.

First, set up an account with www.photobucket.com and upload your pictures there (it's FREE!). Pictures need to be in .jpg or .gif format to work on Horsetopia, .bmp will not work. Photobucket will allow you to reduce the picture there to the appropriate size, keep reducing til it is right.

It is best to have two 'windows' open to browse back and forth between here and there after uploading...

Avatars:
Make sure the pic is a jpeg or gif file first. (It should also be less than 140 x 260 pixels according to the forum, but some members are getting bigger ones to work.) You need to highlight everything in the "Url" box below the pic at photobucket and right click/copy.

Then go to your "Profile" here at the forum. Scroll down to the avatar area. Here you will find the box labelled "Link to off-site Avatar:" this is where you right click/paste. Then click submit. (and cross your fingers )

Please note Make sure that you do not upload an avatar that is too large, otherwise it will make it difficult for other people to read your posts. Large avatars will be removed by administrators.

You were missing the first bracket. It's supposed to look like this [IMG]code[/IMG].

ok, i have the photo bucket setup, i just dont know how to get the pictures from the photo bucket to horsetopia. Any help or ansers

It's a little tricky with photobucket. When you copy the url you'll have to hit the back arrow in the add photo window. Edit out the http//: and make sure thier is only one or else you'll get the url wrong. Make sense?

on photobucket you get 3 choices of codes to copy under each pic. a tag code, a url code and an img code..

copy the img code...

and paste

easy as that...

It is very easy. All you have to do is click on the IMG code and it automatically copies then come to HT, right click, and paste.

Yippie! Just took the photo today. That's my baby girl Roxy. Picked her out when she was only 2 weeks old. Unfortunately she didn't grow anywhere near the size we thought she would get and she is a bit small for me to ride and I don't think she will ever get there either.
