Talking Keegan, McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade in Chicago.. EDIT TODAY-MORE PICS ON PAGE TWO

Photos are not great. I might flip though others and add those later. The weather was so bad, and dark and crummy. I only got to catch him as they were leaving the parade route since the group I was actually there with was ahead of The Noble Horse Theater.

So here are some photos and then some of him and Agnes his trainer and rider waiting for the trailers.

This is the biggest parade he's ever done and he was wonderful. I saw the TV footage too and he walked along like a pro. Of course he did!

Bonus before Keegan photos here is Omar he was Roman riding the whole parade. How freakin' COOL is Omar?

Okay, here is Keegan. He is now the Sugar Plum Fairy's horse in The Nutcracker on Horseback!

He got kind foamy but he was talking a lot afterwards.

lol, I take the worst photos of poor Agnes.

Giving directions.

Amazing people!

So many people stopped and had their photos taken with him while they waited for the trailers.

No city too big for Keegan!

Here are some of the crummy camera phone photos too.

It was WAY too cold, lol.

I OWN THIS CITY!

More to come later! Time for a short nap, then work. Whew!

He is a gorgeous horse; but I have to say, he looks like he's in a lot of pain from his rider pulling on his mouth.

I really doubt he's in pain. He was screaming and she wasn't really pulling on his mouth. She was just holding onto him.

Have you ever ridden a 1200 pound stallion though a huge city on Thanksgiving Day? During a huge parade on one street and the next block over rushing Holiday city traffic?

Most this were taken afterward and as soon as the parade was over you are forced to move down the street and out of the route and then it's five lanes of on coming traffic in your face. Buses, large trucks. Cars going 60 and a 20 mph zone.

He was screaming the whole time because he has a "talking" problem. If he hadn't been screaming the whole time I'm sure his mouth would have looked a little different. As you can see in the first few where they are moving forward on the secure marked parade route she's not really holding onto him.

Also there were mares around as well as small children running around all over the side walk where we were as I was taking those photos.

I'd say so. This is his biggest parade so far. He was pretty excited and ready to head home once all was said and done though. Don't blame him a bit. Where they had to stand and wait for trailers there was a ton of rushing traffic and tons of people running around screaming and running around and running up to him having their photo taken with him.Not to mention it was SO cold! Oy! And windy. That probably didn't bother him like it bothered me though, lol.

So, is Keegan still a stallion? He's gorgeous...and I would agree...he doesn't look like he's in pain, more like he's 'talking'...

Just curious...how does he handle everyone coming up and wanting their picture made with him? Sounds like he's a very good boy...

He really is a good boy. He is a stallion and really just a kid at six years old. For the most part he adores the attention people showe onto him. At horse fairs he has been to we keep his stall open all three days with just a chain and someone by the door. People pose with him, give him treats and hug and talk to him. He is very much a star where ever he goes.

Considering most of these photos were taking on a busy street corner in a huge city, I think he handles things really well. My own horse would have a breakdown on the spot.

You can click my name and then find other posts by me if you want to see photos of him from the Hoosier Horse Fair 2009. His owner gave a very big fan a pony ride on Keegan that weekend. Lots of fans stood in line to get their photos taken with him.

In September he was taken to a keuring in Wisconsin where we were again greeted with fans who knew him from the Internet. I have photos of them standing with Keegan too, lol.

He is pretty awesome.

I think the pictures that will really show his true disposition are on the photo contest forum.

It's him and his owners daughter, four year old Addison.

Those are such cool pictures! wow your stallion looked great and what a good boy.

So many distractions from all the people and traffic, and slippy roads. He looks like he keeps his feet and legs well balanced. He looks like he was having a lot of fun!

You know I love Keegan, that was a great experience for him. He will get used to all that and not be talking as much. It is to be expected under those conditions. I think he handles himself well.

I don't understand what you wrote above has to do with my comment that he looks like he's in pain. IMO, he looks like he's in pain from his rider pulling on his mouth - whatever the excuse for the pulling is: cars, people, etc. He doesn't look happy to me.

Well, whatever you say. I've posted these photos everywhere. No one else has stated he looks like he's in pain. I stood right there with him and he really didn't seem to be in pain then either.

I'm not going to argue over whether or not he's in pain or not. I'm not him, so I don't know. I'm no the rider so I don't know.

Whatever you say.
