First foal for my girl! *updated pics 7-31*

I have had my Straight Egyptian mare, Karima, on a breeding lease with a good friend, who crossed her on the Trakehner stallion Malachi. On Tuesday morning she foaled out a gorgeous black-bay colt! The sire:
http://www.americantrakehner.com/stallions/malachi.asp

I don't know much about Traks, but this stallion is 20 years old and supposedly this is the first colt by him that is seriously being considered as a stallion prospect by the stallion's owner.... and the stallion's owner would sure like to see another foal by the same cross, for '10.

These are the pics sent by my friend, I will be going down next week to meet the little guy and see my girl again. I will have new pics then, but for now, these are his newborn pics!

What a cutie, I love those ears I know he can be registered as part Arab, but is there any other registry, this is probably a stupid question , but sport horse or anything like that?

I take it from the cross that he woud be destined for dressage or eventing? Can't wait to see a video of him, should have a beautiful movement to go with those looks.

I don't know much about Traks, and I'm not sure what my friend has in mind for this foal. I'm guessing the American Trakehner registry allows outcrosses, but again... not sure? I'm sure there are sport horse registries that the foal will be eligible for.

I've got a thread going about Traks, and this particular stallion, in Breeding & Genetics. Hoping to learn more about them, myself.

Are you sure baby isn't a mule? Look at those ears! lol
He looks adorable and daddy is a looker! I want to desperately groom those knots of of mama's mane... A little OCD about those things but she's a looker too.

I know, I'm that way about wind knots too! She tends to get them easily, I know... but I just might grab my bottle of show sheen when I head out the door to see the new momma, next week.

Colts are all legs aren't they
You can sure tell that the daddy doesn't look like the momma. I'll have to go over to the Breeding section and see what a looker he is.
Do you know what makes this colt a stud prospect? What was the stallion owner looking for?

Those legs. Look at those legs! They're a huge asset. Nice, nice, nice.

The ears are pretty typical, he'll grow into them. They're wonderfully fluted, a touch of elegance. Momma sure did stamp that typy Straight Egypt dish onto him, didn't she? Gorgeous.

I wanna see pics at day 3.

Like him? Oh yeah.....

I just think this colt has some HUGE bone.... those legs, he looks like he's going to have a lot of substance as he grows. Can't wait to meet him in person in a few days!

Yup - what she said.

If the mare is approved by the Trak registry (most papered arabs and TBs are) the the baby will be registered Trak. This baby is a looker - keep us updated with pics as he grows.

WoW! He's sure a nice colt. Yep, like the others said I want to see him again in a week or two once he's had a chance to fill up a bit.

What a beautiful baby...congrats to you, the owners, and the mare.

I love your mare! The white spots are neat.

I've got two shetlands that knot up like you wouldn't believe (grrr) I've found MTG works great...show sheen smells better though!
