If you were trying to sell/give away, seems like the ears would be the one thing you got into the picture!! He looks like a mule to me too.

Hinnys do not all look alike Buckskins-they vary greatly.
One of the "usual" charaicteristics is that the heads are more horselike-and the ears are not usually as spacious as a mule.
It was opinions she was looking for-the only real way is to ask the seller if she knows or do a chromosome count.

I'm thinking Hinny as well, looks way more horse-like. Doesn't matter, it's definitely a horse/donkey cross if that's what your looking for!

I take in unwanted horses and this is the first mule (or hinny) that I've dealt with. All the equines are evaluated by my trainer and it is decided if they just need miles or need to go into training. After they are ready for a new owner they are sold and price is based on the equine's ability. I've always wanted a mule for trail riding but this is as close as I will get to having one of my own. I have five horses already so any equines coming to the farm are the unwanted ones. I'm slowing down on reselling due to winter coming and buyers seem to get scarce during the winter months. I started all this to get the equines before they turned into a rescue situation from being starved. I wanted to be proactive vs. reactive. Just trying to do my part.

He's a cutie. To me it also looks more like a Hinny, but it can be hard to tell between the two.

I'm with T-Mom too. The face looks more horsey than muley, I go with Hinny. Whichever it's pretty.

I was under the impression that mules were more horselike than hinnys.

Either way he definitely looks to be a donkey cross, and a beautiful one at that.

Mule- Jack to Mare - longer ears
Hinny - Stallion to Jenny - shorter ears.

It is a hinny.

Hinny: This is the term used for the hybrid animal produced when the female ass (jennet) is mated to the male horse (stallion) to produce a foal. There are both male hinnies and females. The genetic inheritance of the hinny is exactly the same as the mule. Scientists think that differences in hinnies and mules may be from the result of maternal influences on the fetus, and in the upbringing of the foal. Some hinnies tend to look like horses with long ears, but most cannot be told apart from mules. Untraced animals can not be verified as hinnies. For all purposes, hinnies are classified with mules. Hinnies do not differ from mules in endurance, or other useful traits, but are bred more rarely because the donkey dam tends to make the offspring smaller. Donkeys do not as readily conceive to horse stallion as to donkeys. The equine hybrid is easier to obtain when the lower chromosome count (the donkey) is in the male.

Whatever he is he's cute Best of luck
