Mule dream... Realized!

I have been searching for a pony for my daughter... Joey's about as horse crazy as they come, and she really wants to ride! I could leadline her on one of the mares, but it's up high (although they're technically both ponies), and I'm afraid she'll topple off. She's only 2.

I think I must have looked at every pony in North Texas! I inquired on some, but one turned out to be a horse that needed a tie down, and others never replied back... I had found something that really caught my eye, but he was far away, in Oklahoma, and I couldn't really go meet him... Throughout the search, I kept going back to him. Looking at pictures, and watching his video. Finally, I decided to inquire on him... Not one hour later, before I received a response, his ad was marked "sale pending". I was about to give up, but instead, I kept looking. And, when the person said his sale was pending, I told her that if it didn't go through, that I wanted him.

The sale fell through.

I went and picked him up the next day. I was nervous, and hoped that he wouldn't be some wild eyed thing, scared of the world... When we finally did meet, in the parking lot of an outlet mall, all my fears melted away. He was calm and quiet. He was interested in his surroundings, but not spooky. I paid the lady and brought my new boy home...
So.....

*drumroll, please*

I'd like everyone

to

meet...

Dexter! Joey's new Pony Mule!

He's an "in your face" kind of guy...

He's not finished shedding out yet... He's a gorgeous grey with a big ol' spot! (actually, he has several dark spots and white spots... He almost looks like a grey pintaloosa with his weird coloring!)

What a sweet face!

I've given him a bath and a proper haircut, and he did very well. He's such a sweet boy, and calls to me whenever I go out to the pasture.

He's adorable! Man, from some of the pure ponies I have met, I'm thinking that if you get your daughter riding a pony mule, she'll be able to ride ANYTHING!

Thanks all! I've always wanted a mule!

Actually, he rides better than a lot of ponies that I've seen! He rides in a snaffle, and direct reins nicely, has a good stop (stops better than goes sometimes ), and he rides bareback or with a saddle!

My daughter is small, so I'm glad to have a good pony for her that has more woah than go. When she outgrows him (he's 11hh), we have our good ol' 20-something QH mare that she can ride.

I don't know about mules but I know donkeys don't spook easy! He's beautiful, I can't wait to see pics of him all tacked up and on the job. Congrats!

Now isn't he a handsome mule fellow, and looks to be quiet and comfortable with everything around him. He certainly has a soft eye.
