Don't Set Off The Alarm!!

We have two new NEIGH-bors. A very sweet mare and her pasture mate a female donkey. Don't know much about her (or donkeys in general) except she is adorable and loves to be scratched-I have told my husband that we HAVE to get one of our own, she is just so sweet and loveable. Now my dilemna, to get to our property we have to get through one gate and drive down a lane to get to our gate-the donkey and the mare are in the pasture in between. The donkey now recognizes my car and if she sees me she starts to bray (neigh?) and then of course I have to stop and pet her cause I'm a soft touch and a sucker for long ears. So if I'm in a hurry I find myself creeping very slowly, turning off the radio and air conditioner in order to be as stealthy as possible. I will get a picture next time I stop (set off the alarm)

They are quick to train you, that's for sure!

Our donkey alarm goes off every time we step off the porch, or a car pulls in the driveway. He also likes to let us know that he prefers to be fed at 5 am.

Yep, sounds like it didn't take to long for that ALARM to get you!

Nope, I'm a sucker but then my household is full of alarms. First there's Gracie Kitty who wakes early to give me a bath. This wakes me cause her little tongue is like razor blades on delicate skin (like the skin near your underarm or on your neck-ouch!) Then Merlin starts in with "my bowl is empty and come watch me eat" Then something runs across the yard at 3:45 a.m. so AmandaCow and Marshall have to go outside to chase whatever has come to kill us all. Then Sage and Jake hear the door open when I let AmandaCow and Marshall back in and they start "hrr hrr hrring" for their breakfast. I love the babies but mama needs her zzzz's

Donk-donks are funny that way! Our horses will nicker at us when we approach, most of the time. They only neigh at us when it's feeding time...

Now, when we had our ba-donk-a-donk, he would bray whenever he saw us, as well... And, he'd be headed our way when he did! He also brayed at intruders, visitors...

I have to admit I love that sound. Whenever he'd bray, I'd have to giggle.

I have a donkey alarm. I love it! The braying just makes me laugh.

We have 13 of them going off at odd times! I come home and my field echoes with hee-haws! Feeding time is very loud.
