4 Mule Gals (Pic Heavy)

With one mare remaining to foal, Dad's got a field full of mollies.

Karma and Joy (always ended up with Joy's booty today) Joy was born Easter and Karma a week later.

They're all so cute ! When is the last one due?

They're all bay too... hmmm - I really wonder about predicting mule foal colors now. Was their sire born grey?

Also, wanted to say you take pretty pictures to begin with, but the colors are so sharp, what kind of camera do you use?

Such pretty girls, they all look quite content. When is the last one expected?

The last one was born this morning...and ladies, it's a he! The girls are going to eat his lunch. I'll get pics at after work today. Dad says he's long, lean, and a darker bay than the others.

Yep, except for Karma, it's bay all the way - out of two chestnuts, a flex mane sorrel, and a sorrel appalossa. Bugsy was born dark blue or slate grey and keeps getting greyer every year. His dad was a standard size, dark blue (didn't lighten) jack and his mom was a paint mammoth jenny (lots of white, dark blue and black spots). She was an awesome driving and riding jenny.

Thank you! I've been using Mom's Canon Powershot A560 - It's a very easy digital camera to use (and unexpensive!). I like to crop, than resize to maintain as much of the photo's original color, etc. I've used (and REALLY liked) the PowerShot 620. It took better action shots. This one blurs action shots if I'm using zoom. The newer Canon models with higher pixels should be awesome. All for below $500.

Isn't Karma a bay tobiano . She looks the same color as everyone else, but with her Momma's tobiano pattern .

If Bugsy started out grey, and all the mares are red - I definetly think mule color genetics are confusing now , but that's okay, just keeps it interesting Can't wait to see the pictures of the new baby boy!

Thanks for the camera info, I'd like to get a realitively inexpensive one, that takes nice pics like your Mom's

AlbertaGirl, yep, common consensus is Karma is a bay tobiano out of bay tobiano. Here's more donkey genetics to consider...Dad used Bugsy's son for two years (he was leaner, and really dark - his mom was a red dun paint). When bred to sorrels, chestnuts, and one appy, Little Bugsy, has two blacks, two blues (look grulla without the stripes), and a dark gold dun. When bred to a dark bay, he had two dark bay duns. Crazy genetics.

Super freakin cute! I wish so bad I had land... Then I( could afford to get a baby horse (or mule ) and watch it grow up... Love the pinto!

And, btw, I love my Canon powershot, too... not many things I care about brand names on... but Sony electronics and Canon cameras have never failed me.
