Gestation

So, gestation on a mare is 11 months, give or take. Gestation on a donkey is 12 months, give or take. What's the gestation for a mule?

Our's always run right around 11 months but I don't know if that's "textbook" or not...

I'm going to be breeding my mini mare to a mini jack and I'm planning for the proper month for delivery. I'm so excited!!!

I have heard that it is closer to 13 months. I have NO personal expirence with that though.

I have had a donkey carry up to 13 before, and gave birth to a healthy donkey foal so I guess it is possible.

Hmm... this is a tricky question. Hope someone knows for sure.

My understanding of it is that it's would be closer to the mother's natural gestation period - I beleive it has something to do with metabolic rates.

Or do you mean the horse mare that carries the mule foal? If thats the case Id assume it would be the same for a normal horse foal... wouldnt it? Im so lost on this end of the spectrum. I have little to no experience on mules (other than the few a friend used to have).

Cowgirlspurs- I was always told mini's had shorter gestations... But again, what do I know, dont raise minis!

My boss's minis all foaled withing the same time frame as big horses.

But that has nothing to do with donkeys or mules.
