Best places to find a Jenny?

( Other than on "Forrest Gump". )

We are officially looking for a Jenny as a livestock animal. Coyotes are prowling nightly on the bottom of our land, and have been down there yipping, growling, snapping, and howling, for more than 2 weeks. They aren't moving on. There's at least 3, as I've heard them arguing over something last week.

Then they howl to the group across the street - which is going to have donkeys moving in this weekend. I'm afraid those coyotes are going to move to live with these coyotes.

The only critters I own that go to the bottom are the horses...
BUT, not 1000' up hill are the goats, chickens, duck, dogs, kids...
1000' is FAR too close for our comfort.

Anyway.. to the question at hand...

I've had a "wanted ad" here on HT, and searched the sale ads on HT, dreamhorse, equinehits, craigslist...

I'm coming up empty in finding one close enough, within my price range, and actually a Jenny - not a Jack.

Am I missing someplace great to search?

Try BLM.
They had a few when I was getting mine, but with the move, I had to back out.

The burros are not getting adopted as much as they were before.

My friend tells me the auction at London, KY has SOME jennys pass through. Don't know the price range though.

You can PM me about what exactly you are looking for, price, ect and I can talk to a buddy of mine who would probably know where to get one.

I only have minis, I do have a little girl for sale but she's only about 34". (Don't tell her that though!)

Get a jack for $20 and take him straight to the vet for gelding....

Seriously, I saw several NICE jacks for between $15 and $20.

If you have any local auctions try there. There are usually one or two (sometimes more) at our local sales and they are cheap. I almost bought one last week at the sale. She was a very pretty Jenny (seal brown, star, and a couple white socks) she was kind of unusually colored for a Jenny and she rode. I think she was around 5 years old and was about 50 inches tall. She sold for $45.

We went to a different sale yesterday....there was the cutest team of mini's....a Jack and a Jenny. They were about knee high...and I'm short so they weren't very big at all. Worked and drove. The Jenny sold for $110 (she was supposed to be bred) and the Jack sold for $35. I sooo wish I could have brought the Jenny home...If money wasn't so tight right now (with Christmas and all) I would have. My daughter and I want one so bad.

We got all of our donkeys at the local auction. The Jennies were more expensive, but they are usually there. Our Gelding donkeys have always done well keeping the coyotes out.

Well, this is quite a ways from you, but it's a legitimate rescue with a very good reputation (it's actually part of the Humane Society).

They also have ducks.

It's got to be within a reasonable distance of the Central KY area (within a range between Louisville and Lexington, so as not to give too much personal detail.)

Anyone know of any sites I'm not seeing? Or local auctions that might have sites or numbers to call?

Did you find a Jenny yet? Ever thought of maybe a mule mare? There are a couple at the Lexington rescue:
