Trying to log out

I'm trying to set up an account for my daughter but I can't sign out. Everytime I try to activate a new page after logging out I am signed in again. I can't even access the page for new accounts

Maybe it has something to do with having the same computer IP address?

Also, to sign up, is she 18?

I think the age should be changed...its a forum, public one...

Maybe under 16 years old, then no...but over, allow them...

Did you select "remember me on this computer?"

If so, you may want to unselect that.

Or hit refresh after you log out.

Have you ever been on a forum with kids?

It gets pretty bad. It's also bad when we can sopt them on here based soley on their posts.

I think you will find the majority agree with the 18 and up rule

Maybe you need to clear your private data under internet options- sounds like the pc is remembering your data based on cookies...
If you clear that, then the pc won't have the data anymore....ps.
this will also clear out all saved data such as passwords, usernames..you know those things that are magically there when you go to fill in a field..

Yes, you have to be 18. Check the forum rules, it is clearly stated.

When the forum originated, it was open to those 13 and up...it was a nightmare.

I like the 18 and up rule - posts stay more mature and I appreciate that.

Yes it is a Forum owned by people who set the age at 18 Walliboy. Are you under 18 ? LOL
I agree with the age limit BTW
There are plenty of teen sites for the kids to go to.

Yes, I should have added that this is not a "public" forum - it is privately owned and as such can be operated under whatever rules the owners see fit to impose. If they wanted us to never use the word "pink", that would be their perogative.

In regards to the actual "inability to log out" issue...

I can't log out. It's an issue I've had since the switchover to this software.

If you're on certain Internet Service Providers, their "accelerator" software often causes a glitch in the "remember me" feature, in that it always remembers you.

This is believed to be because some big name companies have "bouncing" IPs. The IP address will actually "hop" to a faster one if the one you connected with is slow.

I bet that it bounces as you log off, so the IP you just bounced to automatically logs you in again, because of the remember me feature and cookies stored in your computer.

The only way I can log out is to dump all of my cookies, saved passwords, internet history, and temporary internet files - and that only works until I log back in again.

(And as previously mentioned, your daughter needs to be 18 to join Horsetopia. This decision was made by the site owners quite some time ago, and is strictly enforced.)
