The message under the person's name

I have noticed that under the name is posted something like "weanling" or "newborn" or "long yearling". These messages don't seem to correlate with the date when the member joined. I have seen people who joined in 2005 called "newborn members" and people who joined last month called "weanlings." Who decides what nickname is put there and when is it changed? I've been looking and looking for this in some other post but haven't seen it. Knightrider

How to put it... It is just your "status" on this forum. I believe it is according to how many posts you have made to date not the actual date you joined.

I wondered the same thing. I thought maybe it had to do with the number of posts a person has.

It does have to do with the number of postings you have made - as you post, you progress in "training" - Thank goodness Annie doesn't have a fourm round pen!!!

So they WANT you to post? Then I will ask Gbarmranch, is your avatar new? I think the buckskin you have up there is drop dead gorgeous. Who is he/she? Looks like molten gold. Is he/she as fun to ride as they look? Knightrider

Yup, new pic of our buckskin Joe - he was still damp from his bath when I took it, he is really a lighter color. He rides smooooth, and can pivot of that butt , but his job right now is as our herd sire! Hopefully, once our other grullo colt is hold enough to keep company with a few of the ladies, we will train him to do something... I would love to do cutting with him - but until we finsih the barn, then put in an arena, etc.. he is just a big pet and stallion! (He is a momma's boy that one!!!)

We don't ever want anyone to post frivilously just to raise his/her post count. However, this is a discussion forum, so of course we want our members to post.

If we see that people start to post just to raise their rank we will get rid of the forum ranking system entirely. After all, it is just something that comes with the forum software that we decided to customize into levels that would make sense to horse people.

If anyone has any more specific questions about this they are welcome to contact me by PM.
