I sold Mac

A wonderful lady is coming to pick him up on Saturday. She's trading me for a REALLY nice western saddle.

She called me and I knew within the first 5 seconds that she was perfect for him. She's really into parelli and natural horsemanship, so I know that he won't be abused or hurt again. She was so, so nice to me and so excited to come and see him. She is really big on dressage and riding on trails, so I bet that he'll turn into a really great horse and have good training on him. She has 2 other fat horses that she loves and rides every day with her husband. He'll be kept at her friends house where they feed lunch and have pastures to graze in. She lives by Fresno, which is kind of far away and she is moving to Washington in November, but she promised to send me e-mail updates. She is everything that I could want for him.

I can't help but cry, I'm so happy and sad at the same time. My baby is flying the coop.

So for the sake of my nostalgia, here's Mac's journey with me...

First day I got him. He had been starved for 4 years, left in a small stall with nothing to eat or drink. His training was having a halter on twice to evacuate from the 2007 San Diego firestorm.

I saw his movement and was like "O.O That's MY horse?"

2 months after I got him.

4 months after I had him, his first day with a surcingle.

5 months after I got him, look at those fuzzies!

Begging for coffee. The farrier started that with him, Steve always shared a beer with him.

Eating the tree.

First day with the saddle.

Getting sacked out for the first time...he was so good.

Snuggling with me.

First day at the new house, desperate for snuggles.

Rocket an Mac being pals.

Mac playing in the dirt while it rained.

Mac playing with Stormy.

Mac today.

Under saddle, no looking too happy about me jumping.

I know you are sad; I always have a really hard time letting horses go But I am glad you found a good home for him and will be where he will get used. He is a beautiful boy.

I am so glad you have found such a wonderful home for Mac! I know it is so hard to see him go, but just focus on how well you have prepared him for his new life, and how happy he will be.

Thanks everyone.

I am pretty excited that he is going to such a great home. And Eclectic, I totally agree - finding him a good home is better then money. If the saddle doesn't fit either of my horses, I'll give Mac to her.

Oh wow that is great. I know you are relieved that he is going to be in a home where he is loved like you loved him. To me that makes all the difference in the world.

I'm very happy for you AND Mac! You must be so happy that he is goin to such a great home. I'm glad he is goin to that lady because it sounds like Mac would work really well with her from what you have told us about her. I hope that if she sends you pics, please post some so we can see how he is doing with his new owner!!! Best of wishes...

That's really great, CrookedBlaze!
I know you have been having a bit of a time lately, and this is good news for Mac and You. You gave him the chance he needed and deserved, he rewarded you with his sweet nature and funny antics, and now he is ready for his next life's endeavor.
I hope this woman will be as kind and patient with him as you have been, and will help him to develop his potential, and continue his education, much like you would want for him.
Great news!! Redboy
