And I hit my head on.....

The top rail of the round pen when I was exiting it. I've never rode a horse out of it and I thought I was short enough to make it. Welp, I thought wrong.

And I rode Jill a good almost 2 hours today!
I was so excited! I havent ridden her in awhile in a saddle! I have been riding her bareback. I trotted and cantered for the first time! But only for about, .000001 seconds because she went back into a trot.

She did fantastic! Even though the horse flies kept landing on her a trying to bite her. I smashed them and most where on her butt! I think she knew that I was helping her because she didnt even flinch! I was soooooo proud of her! And one time I missed the fly completly! And hit her! I was soo sorry I couldnt stop petting her and telling her shes doing a good job. My fingers are so dirty from scrachin her. A fly was on Cherokee and She couldnt get it off so she took off and JIll followed. I wasnt even scared! I just said WHOA! and she STOPPED! Im still smiling! And my head is ok from the rail.

I am glad you weren't hurt! I have the same problem in my roundpen, I have to lay flat on Opie's neck and squish down flat.
She was a really good girl today it sounds like!! Don't you love when they know you are helping them?

I can just "hear" how proud you are. I'm glad you had a great time and that your head is OK

One of the 'treats' Tango gets is, after a solid work out, we go awandering through the barn. He can go where he wants, and he loves exploring. He often ends up in one of the turn outs - which is fenced. The gate is generally open, and there are rails above. Him being 16.2-3, I tend to lay flat, and hope. He also wanders under trees...I figure at least I know how to lay flat should something get wonky on the trail, you know?

You sound like you had a great day. Good on ya!

Best-
Noni

Congrats on such a nice ride. It sounds like it went very well. . . except for that bump on your head.

Don't feel bad. I have done that before too. Talk about getting a strange look from your horse.

Sounds like you had an awesome ride.

Sounds like the ride went well even if exiting the round pen didn't.
