You know..you all are the only people who want to hear me talk about my horse..no one irl here gets it at all..
so...
Between the heat and my schedule I haven't been riding as much as I would like.
So Last Sunday after not riding for a week (or doing anything else horse related for that matter) I rode with my friend and her horse, and things were ok until the kids came in to ride with us. This is the first time I rode Lady with 4 people on horses around and she decide to act like a nut. Teens on horses, plus she had had a week off, which no doubt didn't help..so we would do little circles, and I kept trying to keep her at a walk or a trot, but she wanted to race and flip her head like a nitwit. At one point while holding her back she piaffed very nicely down the fence line..pity it wasn't on purpose

. So she and I got more and more annoyed with each other and she finally reared, once..then twice..and it was ok baby more circles, calm her down and dismount and lunged her for a bit. I know this sounds just awful..but the thing is I wasn't scared, she used to scare me with just her high headed gaiting speed walk, but slowly slowly we are gaining trust in each other.
So today I went first thing this morning to gain some riding time. She was great..so much more attentive with no one around. Chickens, goats and ponies running around no problem..she was a good girl and we worked on her just listening, stopping and going in and out the round pen gate. We worked a bit at trotting the weave poles..and just as we were finishing up. The neighbor shoots a shotgun.

she ducks down about a foot and shoots off to the left...fortunately I spook in the same direction and don't come off (I am very gun shy myself and startle violently at loud sudden noises) she just stands shaking for a minute and we walk back to the round pen. What a good girl..
I am so in love with my horse.
