I like giving my horses stuff like that because it gives them something to do. It's the same thing that zoos do, called enrichment. I hide treats in corners and under cones, give them new stuff to play with to keep them busy. A bored horse is a destructive horse...especially when you have a wooden barn that's not in the best of shape.
![]() I pick up things at the store if they are relatively cheap and look like the horse could enjoying it without getting sick or injured. Mac currently has some dog toys that I can shove apple slices into, he has to kick them to get them out.

Awww that's so sweet! He wanted to share his big blue ball with you... It's wonderful when they find something to play with!
Dot has never been a big one on toys, for some reason. His one big entertainment is dragging big dirty sticks around - like old jump rails, for example. They are usually stored in a neat pile at the arena edge, but whenever he's turned out in the arena (rarely) he'll pull one out and drag it around. Then, he brings it to me, all dirty, wet, chewed-up and spit-covered, and drops it at my feet. Almost like he wants me to throw it for him or something... I did get him a pool noodle, and that was fun for about a week - but then he lost interest. Spent $20 and got him a Jolly Ball, too, but he squashed it and it ended up in the next stall, so I gave up on that.

We got the horses a Jolly Ball, they ignored it, so now it belongs to the dogs. Picked up some empty plastic barrels so my daughter could try her mare on barrels. Silly Kiss kicks them around the pasture, the other two ignore them.

50 gallon barrels are Rocket and Mac's other favorite things to play with.
![]() Greydot, my friends Anglo Arab does that too! If he is turned out in the jumping arena, he knocks the fences over and drags around the poles and rolls the standards around.
