You are very lucky to have such a sweet friend. Go see her, you may find she is just what you need right now. You have through so much, but sometimes things happen for reasons not immediately known to us. If this horse is kind, sweet, and safe is is a gem. After the gift you gave Monet, she may be giving back to you. This may sound crazy, but when we lost our mare unexpectedly, I can say many good things have happened. We rescued a pony who now has her own little girl. Both the girls have new riding instructors who treasure them and have become great friends. I see these as little gifts from our girl, Ginger. Her presence is around us. Monet and Riley are watching out for you too.

How incredibly generous, you're very fortunate to have a friend like that. I have no idea how I would react if I was given that chance
I'm sure you'll do the right thing tho.

How very generous of your barn owner...
Honestly, it could be a good move on your part.. I do agree that you should have a trial period.. Make sure you feel comfortable with and around her.. You may find out that she is your horsey soul mate. I know it's not the same, but when my Chihuahua died I knew I had to have another... Now that I have him, he's healed the pain caused by loss. This horse may do the same for you.. If it were me, I'd go ahead and ask for that trial period. See how it works out. You may be suprised

BabyMay, such incredible news!
First, I'm so sorry about your losses and the sadness that surrounds you. Loosing any animal is so very difficult for folks like us. I'm sure your heart is breaking. But, what a wonderful offer your BO is making you. I know all too well how much you don't want to love another anaimal right now -- especially with all you've just experienced, but maybe this mare will be just the band aid your heart needs. When I lost my wonderful mare, Rosie, a dear friend gave me his horse. Percy was a wonderful friend to both of my daughters and my partner in crime on many occasions. I found such strength in his goodness, I'm not sure how I managed without him all those years. I think you're wise to go slowly, but your heart will tell you if you're doing the right thing. Good luck and let us know what you decide. Hugs from Virginia.

Take Rosie's face into your hands and let her tell you if she is yours. (Maybe even rub her ear to see if it feels velvety
Share your heart (joy, fear, graitude) with the BO and thank her. I think you own excitment shows your heart is ready. And you know the RULE of HT - get those pics ![]() Take a moment and let tears fall for your beloved pets that are now in heaven, bend a knee to God to say thanks, and then smile and kiss your new horsie.

Yes, I would suggest to try her out! She may be just what you have been looking for. She sounds wonderful.

Well here is a picture of Rosie. I am gonna take her on a 2 week trial. The BO said that was fine. She was sure I would decided to keep her. She is such a gentle girl. I brushed her this morning and told her all my heartaches. She listened well. Here is a picture the BO gave to me, because I forgot my camera . I will take more later.

If it was me, I'd talk it over with Rosie. I think she'll prob be able to make you sure, one way or the other; you'll either "feel it", or you won't. I'm sorry things have been so awful and hope you're feeling better soon. I just saw the pic you put up, she looks like a "keeper".
