When you know you've made the right decision.

Today I had to keep my side of my bargain, Sosa came home yesterday, so Frejya had to move onto to her new home.

When I went out to catch her this morning she was in one of her worst type of alpha mare moods, which meant not only did she not want to be caught, but she didn't want any of the rest of the herd caught either.

We decided the best thing to do would be herd everything into the barn, give them some time to cool off, then we could sort everyone out.

The very last stall in the barn is only small, and has a gate across it rather than a door, we use it when we are loading calves, we back the trailer up to the gate, en herd the cows into the pen, swing the gate open, and push them on,

As they walk into the barn, frejya suddenly decides that what ever is down the far end, that's where she wants to be, so comes straight on through, John has already parked the trailer by the door, so I open the gate to the small pen, she walks straight through it and onto the trailer, never hesitated a step.

I got the feeling that she was saying, OK it didn't work out between us, so lets move on.

I am getting a mental image of her turning and sticking her tounge out as she walked onto the trailer (like kids do when they are being sassy).

Well that was intereting. She knew. I think you made the very right decision and getting that new boy. You are keeping Max though?

Fingers crossed we now have a settled herd for a while We have the 'big spotted horse' (I'm really going to have to get him a name, poor boy) to ride now. Max will be staying and will be started next year.

Fancy will stay, we'll concentrate mainly on groundwork for this year, but also hope to have some lighter friends come and ride out with me. In the spring she'll be bred for a 2010 Haflinger

That little mare knew. It's funny, sometimes horses figure things out before you do.

Good luck with your new boy.

I know deep down I did, she and I never ever clicked, but I still feel that I failed. I'm sure her new owner will be much more suitable.

She is a very 'street smart' and savvy little horse. I hope that Max has learnt all she could show him about survival. I think that he has learnt a lot from her, but he has that people friendly side that she just doesn't have. She wants everything on her terms, and doesn't 'need' anything.
