Goodbye, Fear, and good riddance!!

I want to type this in all caps to yell it from the rooftops:

I'M NOT AFRAID OF MY OWN HORSE ANYMORE!! WE DID IT, WE'RE ON THE OTHER SIDE AND IT'S GREAT HERE!!

Okay I'm done now

Short version: Nasty fall in January. Total loss of confidence with my Tule (only him though, any other horse I'm still fine). Barely got back on him at all for four months. Found, by chance, a great trainer. Put Tule into twice-a-week lessons. Gradually worked my way up to splitting the time, half the trainer rides, second half I ride. Flash forward to two days ago. Put the saddle on him on a lark because we were both in good moods, planets aligned, whatever. Had a quick couple of circuits around the arena with no issues...just us, no trainer. Tonight, time for lesson, and it was all me! I got up first, I rode until I was tired (out of shape, yuck), and trainer finished up with some solid trot transitions.

The whole time I was in control. No fear, no lack of confidence, no doubts, just me and my amazing horse again. The sky is once again the limit!!

Also, I really feel like even when the next fall happens (and I'm not so dumb that I think it won't), I'll be ready to bounce back right away.

I'm so happy!

Congratulations! It feels so good to be back on a horse and comfortable that you're there isn't it?
I've been there myself!

Congratulations! Thanks for sharing that with us-it's inspiring because we've all been there. Tell me how you did it-did you psych yourself or was it the trainer helping you?
