2 Week Update on Nieko

Hey all

I just thought I would post some updated pictures of Nieko. He is my brother-in-laws horse but I have taken over working and caring for him. I hope to own him soon. I just founf out Ben might have EPM so he might be being put down Nieko came from an abusive and neglectful home. I have posted his pictures a couple weeks ago when I started. Here is the link to the first post in case you don't remeber or didn't see it NIEKO~My New Project~PIX ADDED

We are unsure of his breed still and I'm not sure exactly what color he would be. I would say sorrel but he has the line down his back, does that matter??

Thanx for looking! Hope you can see a difference cuz it's hard for me too!

He looks to me like he's put on a little weight across the top of his butt and around his ribs. Ya gotta remember it takes a looong time to put it back on them. He's going to be a handsome boy.

I think he looks better. Is he gaited? He looks sorrel; that's not a true dorsal stripe.

Yeah he's definitely sorrel. Look at that gorgeous copper penny color. My sorrel gets a little darker line down his back, I don't know why.

He looks to me like a QH cross, he does have a gaited look too though.

He looks like he has improved! He is actually looking like a healthy and happy horse.

Thanx for the comments!!

If you bounce around in the saddle then he's not gaited . Seriously tho, maybe a few videos could help us.

I think he's looking much better- I would say he is gaited too, hes got that hind end structure. It should be fairly easy to tell when he trots around. Put up a video and I bet we could tell ya

A little word on EPM-
One of my boarders horses (a 19 yr old ottb) has EPM, he is being managed well, and there is a generic form of Marquis (EPM treatment) that is only costing around $130/month (versus the $1000 and some Marquis costs).
He is showing a lot of improvement and hopefully will be back under saddle soon.
It IS managable, but best of luck with him. Its a very sad disease.

His coat is nice and glossy, and he is looking a lot better - a bit more time and he should fill out well..

Nice color, and what a cute face and soft eye.. he is defintely a keeper..

If you have video capability, I'd put one on here. This way you'll know if he is in fact, gaited. He really looks the part. In that U/S picture he looks almost like an MFT, but maybe a walker.

I can see improvement in his weight. He is definately sorrel. How old is he? I'd say QHX or gaited breed. Would love to see a video of how he moves.
